Tomorrow is 90 days to the election. There is a tradition that you don't make make criminal indictments that might affect an election in the last 90 days before an election. Also, there might be statute of limitations issues in delaying indictments. Story |

NY AG files lawsuit to dissolve NRA due to diversion of charitable contributions. I wonder if this may actually be doing a service to some of the in-place NRA leaders. Rather than the focus being on those like Oliver North that were complaining about corruption inside the NRA, the focus becomes on "evil liberals trying to tear down the NRA". I wonder if this was to be expected given the influence inside the NRA that gun manufacturers were given. That is, it created a culture of buying favors. The NRA still tries to uphold the "field and stream" imagery of a bygone era [something out of a Rockwell painting]. That's what many conservative Republicans claim they are supporting, despite allowing the rednecks and conspiracy theorists to control the agenda. |
