The 538 story linked below does not seem like the real story to me. It is this: The real story is that nothing changes. Every day that goes by with the election essentially unchanged is BAD news for Trump. The first in-person votes are in 44 days. First ballots are mailed out in 34 days. And the elections remains essentially frozen, with no indication that anything will change. Tick, tick, tick, Donald. How many days until the first indictment? 538 Story

This is no comfort for me. In a normal world, his numbers should be trending DOWN as the pandemic is getting out of control and the economy is in free fall. I guess the only thing that keeps him afloat is the stock market which itself seems completely disconnected from reality.

This is no comfort for me. In a normal world, his numbers should be trending DOWN as the pandemic is getting out of control and the economy is in free fall. I guess the only thing that keeps him afloat is the stock market which itself seems completely disconnected from reality. I think what is keeping him afloat is the alternate reality bubble a lot of people live it. If you watch Fox or OAN or listen to Alex Jones, Trump is ahead in the polls, the economy is roaring back, the wall is being built, etc. At least I imagine so. And there is the general ignorance of people. I don't remember where I saw the headline "People are upset about the end of $600 unemployment boost, but don't know who to blame." They aren't following the story of what is happening in Washington. They won't be aware of the mass evictions that are starting. (I have no idea who the landlords think there will be to move into all those properties.) And there is cult confirmation bias. When you are invested enough in a savior, you find a way to dismiss any information that might threaten your beliefs.
