I leave mine out on the back porch. It doesn't come into the house until I've dropped it into water made sudsy with dishwashing liquid. I handwash it and then hang it to air dry. I own 5 facemasks that I rotate.
What do you do?
The reason I bring this up is Louie Gohmert and his speculation that he might have contracted COVID-19 from USING his mask. Now, despite being probably the stupidest Congressman on Capitol Hill, he may have a point. Because it's clear he hasn't taken mask-wearing very seriously. His mask isn't even a mask, it's a bandana. He thinks it's all foolishness. When he wears it he wears it grudgingly, more to check a box and avoid being hassled than a real sense of trying to protect others.
So, I'm wondering, how much attention does someone like that give to facecovering hygiene? What does he do when he comes home with it and walks through the door of his home? Or does he just leave it out in the car? He may very well be right that he got it from his mask, if his mask maintenance is what I suspect it is.

I leave mine in the car where i think the sunlight will take care of it. I try to leave it on the dashboard but remembering to do things is not my forte, if you know what I mean.

I tuck it on a shelf under my car keys. And I wash it about once a week. I have about five but I wear just one most of the time. But I don't go out every day; maybe three, sometimes four days out of the week.

I leave mine in the car where hopefully the heat will do some cleaning. I use the same mask repeatedly but I don't go out everyday so it usually sits for 2-3 days. Mine are kN95's and not washable. I stay out of crowded places and keep social distancing so exposure is minimal, grocery, home depot 2-3 times a week. If I thought I had been in a highly exposed situation I would change masks.

I use an N-95 that has a changeable inner lining. As you put in a new filter thingy you can replace the inner lining. That would be the surface of the inside of the mask. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084TJDDL1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've also bought masks on amazon supposedly KN95's but I'm sure they're not legit. Not bad quality but not real KN's. No N95's or KN95's are available to the general public anywhere in the US. N95's filter out 95% of virus. Knock offs range from 50% to much less. Keep that in mind. They are minimal protection for you but lots of protection for those around you. If you walk through a cloud of virus with a knock off mask you will likely take a good dose of it in. Distance and stay out of small rooms with others you don't know.
