...battleground white votes will be lost tonight as the airwaves are saturated with that BS, ambulance-chasing demagog fake-religionist screams at America.

Why would a white person in a battleground state be watching Al Sharpton tonight?

Why would a white person in a battleground state be watching Al Sharpton tonight? They still might come across video clips on twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and etc. We are in the Age of Social Media.

His keynote speech will be excerpted on scores of local and national network news hours and plenty of cable channels. I would expect Fox News to run them for days or weeks.

I'm politically engaged and I still have no idea what you're talking about. Anyone who watches Fox News already knows who they're voting for. The voters who "matter" most, won't even be paying attention for another three months.

I agree with the second part of what you said. But I am not talking about Fox Hews viewers making up their minds, I am still thinking there are people who voted for Trump in '16 who are legitimaetly not sure if they will support him in '20. If some of us deny that there are any such voters, we can disagree. The people I am considering would watch CBS, NBC, ABC, plus local new stations, maybe FOX-TV news. They may not even know who Sharpton is. They will remember being angry with his rhetoric, and forget it until Fox News provides the moneyed Trump campaign with countless clips for political ads leading up to the election, giving an impression that only Trump can save them from being overrun. I never said this type of person was smart, but I do not think they are believers in the Deep State and Trump-forever idiots either. I doubt that Biden will expose his hesitations and malaprops much because he is an accomplished campaigner. So Trump will show burning buildings and wild-eyed protesters and angry speakers -- like Al Sharpton.
So, lets just agree that anything that helps beat Trump is the key to turning our country around from this terrible 3+ years. Maybe I am the only one who thinks compassionate people who vited in ignorance may turn around and vote Biden this time. We need their votes, and we need them for the Senate races. My Sharpton rant was because I think he's a tool who doesn't realize he'll end up on tape as a tool for Trump.

I am with Born. I follow the news, and I had no idea he was giving a speech until you mentioned it.
I am seeing no coverage of the speech, unless I search on his name.
It seems like a non-event to me.

I am glad. I was responding to a promo that Sharpton was to be the keynote speaker at a Juneteenth rally in OKC. Maybe it wasn't Friday. J'teenth is an all weekend thing (I also heard). But I hope it doesn't make the news.

Maybe I am the only one who thinks compassionate people who voted in ignorance may turn around and vote Biden this time. We need their votes, and we need them for the Senate races. It may be more important to get the black turnout back to where it was in 2012. The linked article shows the decline in the black vote from 2012 to 2016 was the difference in Michigan and Washington. Link: Center for American Progress - Voter Trends in 2016As far as compassionate voters who may come to their senses and realize they voted for trump in error last time, you argument seems to be their thinking could go something like this, "Boy, trump is a real idiot, and I was a fool to vote for him last time; I gonna vote for Biden. But wait, what's that Al Sharpton is saying? He's black and he's angry, and that makes ME angry, so I'm going to stick with trump". I have to think that anyone who claims they're voting for trump this year because of something Al Sharpton said was always going to vote for trump. They just want an excuse.

I'll agree to disagree, but my take is (on your --"always going to vote for trump. They just want an excuse." --)
that I see things as much more complex than that. And not everyone here disagreed on old BZOF when I used to post that abstaining Obama voters (black, white or pro-Bernie) cost us Michigan in 2016. You and your link are right on. With a black femme VP on the ticket and anger v Trump, they'll vote in greater numbers this November.
And I don't mean to beat this dead horse thread into the corral dust, so . . . . ;O)
