There is extreme right wing hate media and message boards just for them. Some ugly stuff.

It would probably be terrifying to know how many cops buy into and support that type of militant rhetoric. Trump supporters in the general public buy into most of it for sure so I'm sure many cops do as well. Got an email from a trumper last week claiming Soros and Antifa are behind all of the worldwide protests over Floyd. Law enforcement jobs are magnets for these type people. And one has to know that all of this negative attention has to result in the blue wall reinforcing itself.
I'm not sure how we can deal with this. Training and new procedures only work for those that follow them. As long as unions reinstate bad cops there's no progress. And what about all the ones that aren't caught?
I'd like to see nationwide iron clad policies on body cameras. Every police dept should be required to use them. Any cop who turns one off should be assigned to desk duty or fired. And every cop should be required to verify that his is working before an encounter with the public. If his camera is "broken" he should be required to return to the station house before any interaction with the public unless someone's life is in imminent danger. It may be the only way to crack the blue wall.

Early research indicates that body camera do not reduce misconduct, probobly because there is so little punishment when they get caught.
The scariest thing is when a neo-Nazi has a bad they have a legal license to use force and take away a person's freedom.

In the past, this might have seemed more "ordinary" back when NRA was viewed as more of a "field and stream" organization that had gun safety classes. Heck, I remember an old episode of CHiPs in which Jon and Ponch were seen with an NRA sticker on the wall of one of their residences. Back then it was still "All American Pie" stuff. But as the NRA increasingly became a redneck organization for those who saw themselves as preserving an older semi-rural image of the US against modern trends they resented - it really becomes worrisome.

Yeah, I think I might have a lifetime membership to the NRA from when I used to shoot competitively as a kid.

Likely police unions or organizations. I don't think there's any doubt that they enhance accountability. Most cops who have been fired or charged body cams played a big part. But you're right that far too many aren't disciplined when incidents are shown on camera.
