Then, I tried to be a Chef - figured it would add a little spice to my life, but I just didn't have the thyme.
I Always Tell My Kids, It's Not How Much You Make, but How Much You Save and How Well You Invest That Matters.
Donald Trump is likely annoyed by how much money President Joe Biden has been raising, but the former president should worry instead on the campaign cash he himself is wasting, a Republican strategist argued Saturday
Susan Del Percio’s column for MSNBC on "why Trump should be worried" delves into Biden’s “clear” advantage and the impact it will have on a man who, she argues, puts great stock in financial worth.
“These kinds of strong fundraising totals make for great headlines,” Del Percio wrote of Biden’s $26 million campaign fundraiser. “But they must also irk Trump.”
But Del Percio argues Trump should pull his focus away from how much Biden has raised and look instead at what his Democrat challenger is doing with the millions he raises.
“How you spend your campaign funds is what matters,” she wrote. “And so far, Biden has chosen wisely.”
According to Del Percio’s calculations, Biden has sunk $30 million into a “stunning” six-week ad campaign and built up its “ground game” with 350 new hires and 100 offices established.
“Having a strong ground operation allows team Biden to develop strategic messages that can be delivered in a more localized, targeted way,” she argues. “Normally we do not see this type of spending until the convention.”
Del Percio writes that Biden’s novel strategy is well designed to take on Trump, who is sinking tens of millions of dollars into legal fees.
“Trump would be wise to remember the trouble he got into in August of 2020.” she writes. “As Biden poured money into battleground-state TV ads, Trump had to go dark in several states where early voting was about to begin.”
Case In Point
After former President Donald Trump attended the funeral for slain New York City police officer Jonathan Diller, he reportedly spent $200 on fast food at a Long Island drive-in.
According to the New York Post, "While headed to his private jet 'en route back to Florida, Trump and his campaign staff traveled westbound on Merrick Road from the funeral home’s South Chapel location to the popular All American Drive-In, Trump’s senior adviser, Daniel Scavino Jr., posted on Facebook."
All American manager Richard Vultaggio revealed to reporters that Trump purchased 18 “double double” cheeseburgers, 10 hot dogs, two quarter-pounder hamburgers with cheese, 20 orders of French fries, and 10 orders of onion rings, along with numerous servings of ketchup and mustard.

Lock Him Up!
Donald Trump found himself in hot water after he posted controversial imagery on social media.
Early on Friday, the former president posted a video that depicts a large truck with several "blue lives matter" flags and pro-American signage. On the back of the Truck, is a mural of Biden bound and on his side.
That caused an uproar on social media.
But this might be more serious than Trump simply upsetting the left, or "owning the libs."
Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance suggested there could be serious consequences for Trump.
"I know from experience how the Secret Service interacts with people who make threats against POTUS, even ones they can't carry out. This, from a former President, is totally out of bounds. It's time to stop letting Trump break the rules. Long past time," Vance said after the report circulated.
Veteran Philadelphia Inquirerreporter and columnist Will Bunch simply said, "Revoke his bail."

We're So Upset the Netanyahu That We are Only Sending Him $2.5 Billion in Weapons.
he United States has greenlighted the transfer of billions of dollars worth of bombs and fighter jets to Israel, The Washington Post reported, even as it publicly expresses concerns about the long-threatened Israeli invasion of Gaza’s Rafah and the rising civilian casualties in the enclave.
The new arms package includes more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, according to Pentagon and Department of State officials, the Washington Post reported on Friday.
The 2,000-pound bombs, which can inflict damage to people up to 1,000 feet (300 metres) away, have been “linked to previous mass-casualty events throughout Israel’s military campaign in Gaza”, the report said. The US gives $3.8bn in annual military assistance to its longtime ally.
Reporting from Washington, DC, Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett said the transfer “amounts to about $2.5bn”, adding that “this is taking place despite a growing rift between both the Israeli and US governments”.

Follow the Money ... Where It is NOT Going
Trump’s Bible Stunt Isn’t Brilliant. It’s Insanely Desperate.
Are “the rubes” finally on to Trump?
It’s endless. Or is it? Trump’s fundraising has taken a nosedive. His small-donor numbers are below where they once were. NBC News recently reported that donations to Trump of $200 or less are down 62.5 percent against 2019. He’s still raised a lot; I don’t want to mislead you here. The New York Times recently reported that Trump has more small donors than Joe Biden in some key swing states. But Biden has raised more from small donors overall, according to OpenSecrets. And in the most recent Federal Election Commission filings, Trump had $33.5 million cash on hand and Biden reported having $71 million. That was March 20, before Thursday night’s Radio City Music Hall event with Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, where Biden raked in $26 million.
And Where It is Going
Under a new scheme engineered by Donald Trump, his personal committee that has been paying his legal bills will be able to skim nearly $32 million from large-dollar donors that otherwise would have gone to the Republican Party, if he and the party can match their fundraising numbers from four years ago.
In the 2020 campaign, every dime of the $396 million jointly raised by the coup-attempting former president and the GOP from those writing big checks went to Trump’s campaign, the RNC and then a host of state parties.
This time, though, the “Trump 47” joint committee puts Trump’s “Save America” leadership PAC ― essentially a slush fund at Trump’s disposal that he has used to pay lawyers defending him from both criminal and civil charges ― second in line to collect money. After the first $6,600 goes to Trump’s campaign, the next $5,000 goes to Save America. Only when a donation exceeds $11,600 does the RNC get its first penny.
Had that arrangement been in place in 2020, Trump’s personal fund would have received $31.8 million that otherwise would have gone to the RNC and state parties, according to a HuffPost analysis of Federal Election Commission filings.

Gee Whiz! Are They In Custody or Not?
A federal judge on Friday sharply questioned the Biden administration’s position that it bears no responsibility for housing and feeding migrant children while they wait in makeshift camps along the U.S-Mexico border.
The Border Patrol does not dispute the conditions at the camps, where migrants wait under open skies or sometimes in tents or structures made of tree branches while short on food and water. The migrants, who crossed the border illegally, are waiting there for Border Patrol agents to arrest and process them. The question is whether they are in legal custody.
That would start a 72-hour limit on how long children can be held and require emergency medical services and guarantees of physical safety, among other things.
U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee said evidence presented by migrant advocacy groups appeared to support the definition of legal custody. “Are they free to leave?” she asked.
“As long as they do not proceed further into the United States,” answered Justice Department attorney Fizza Batool. (The camps are on the border. Where else can they go?)
Gee, who was appointed by former Democratic President Bill Clinton, acknowledged it was complicated — “like dancing on the head of a pin” — because some children arrive on their own at the camps and are not sent there by Border Patrol agents.
Advocates are seeking to enforce a 1997 court-supervised settlement on custody conditions for migrant children, which includes the time limit and services including toilets, sinks and temperature controls. Gee did not rule after a half-hour hearing in Los Angeles.

Maybe Previous Guy Learned Money Management from the Arizona QOP
In 2023, the Arizona Republican Party purchased property in Phoenix that it planned to use as its headquarters. The acquisition was a big deal in conservative Arizona politics.
But last Saturday, according to Axios, the it decided to sell the third-floor office space — only nine months after acquiring it.
Gina Swoboda, who chairs the Arizona GOP, told Axios that the space presented financial and logistical problems that could have been bad for Republicans in an election year.
Axios' Jeremy Duda wrote, "The AZGOP has been plagued by dysfunction and poor fundraising over the past few years, just as it attempts to fight back against recent Democratic political gains…. Currently, the party is paying about $11,300 monthly in HOA fees for the space. And because people can't get to the third-floor space without a badge, it's inaccessible to volunteers and others."
Those problems, according to Duda, have made it difficult for Arizona Republicans "to help campaigns and carry out get-out-the-vote activities."

His Story Should Be Here
“His story should be here,” the headline boldly reads over a gaping blank front page across Wall Street Journal newspapers distributed Friday.
The powerful print marks exactly one year since American journalist and WSJ correspondent Evan Gershkovich was arrested in Russia on espionage charges. Gershkovich, The Wall Street Journal and the U.S. government have denied the alleged crimes, which a trial date has yet to be set for.
His actual crime is “journalism,” The Wall Street Journal asserts at the top of its newspaper recognizing his “one year stolen”: “A year of stolen stories, stolen joys, stolen memories.”
