Schooled by Grandpa
In the wake of his State of the Union speech Thursday, President Joe Biden hit the campaign trail Friday morning with a huge boost to his campaign coffers. According to reports, the 9, 10, and 11 p.m. hours after the State of the Union were Biden's best for fundraising of the campaign cycle so far.
The Biden campaign raised $1 million on Thursday before the speech even began, and the record hauls continued while he was speaking.
Speaking to network contributor Van Jones Friday, CNN's Kate Bolduan mentioned the fundraising haul, calling it Biden's "best online fundraising since the reelection launch." She asked Jones what he thinks the cash influx means.
"That means he was fired up and he fired up the base and the base was nervous," Jones said. "I got a lot of text messages — 'I hope he does okay, I hope he doesn't embarrass himself,' blah, blah — and Joe Biden put his chest out last night."
According to Jones, Biden was "directly challenging Republicans" in his speech.
"And Republicans were getting schooled by grandpa," Jones continued, adding that there was complete "silence" when Biden sarcastically asked if they wanted to give tax cuts to billionaires.
"So, he was in command," Jones said. "He was the Commander in Chief — he's definitely the commander of that body, and people responded."
February was also a strong fundraising month for Biden, with records showing he raised at least $42 million for his reelection campaign and the Democratic Party, campaign officials told CNN earlier this month — "A total fueled by the strongest month of grassroots donations during this election cycle, which campaign officials say demonstrates an under-appreciated level of enthusiasm for the president," CNN's report stated.

Was Previous Guy Looking in a Mirror?
Wide praise for President Joe Biden's State of the Union address seems to have gotten under the skin of Donald Trump, who took to his Truth Social account to rage at the current president.
Late Thursday night, the former president praised Alabama Republican Sen. Katie Britt's SOTU response, which led to immediate blowback from his supporters, and on Friday morning he launched his own attack on Biden's speech.
On Friday morning, MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough was effusive in his praise about the speech, telling his panel, "I mean, Democrats certainly, if there were any Democrats wavering, last night had to make them feel they're in really good shape," before later adding, "Last night, game, set, match to Joe Biden."
Add to that, MSNBC's Jonathan Lemire reported that Biden's campaign was deluged with a record amount of donations following the president's address, telling viewers, "They already walked into [Thursday] with a massive fundraising advantage over Donald Trump, who struggled to raise money. Also, because he had to devote so much of the money he's raised to his legal bills. Even prior to last night, Democrats feel great about the speech, they felt like they had a significant financial advantage. They're going to be able to bury Trump in ads."
After conservative Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan wrote that Biden "came in hot," while praising his, "pow pow pow" delivery,Trump pushed back on Friday morning.
"Biden’s speech last night is getting 'panned' all over the World," he wrote with out providing any links before adding, " Only the Radical Left lunatics are trying to make the best of it. It took him 41 minutes to talk, briefly, about Immigration and the Border, on the topic of which he was very weak. No talk of weaponization against his very calm and nice opponent."
"Angry as hell, this guy is a PSYCHO!" he insisted.

I Don't Know What It Is, But I Am Against It.
A Republican Senate candidate called to repeal President Joe Biden's infrastructure law but admits he doesn't actually know much about it.
Pennsylvania has received over $13 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure law, but GOP candidate Dave McCormick has made rolling back that funding a key issue in his U.S. Senate campaign, reported The Keystone.
“The number one thing you do with a Senate majority, a House majority and Republican president in the White House is you roll back all those incredibly expensive Biden bills," McCormick told a conservative talk radio host in November. "The infrastructure bill, the Build Back Better – all of that stuff."
McCormick acknowledged voters wanted to expand broadband service, which Biden's law does, and admitted he didn't know much about reconnecting a passenger rail line between Scranton and New York City, although he opposes the project backed by his opponent Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA).
“We’ve got world-class universities, we’ve got really great infrastructure with the exception of pipeline for natural gas," McCormick told Lackawanna County commissioner Chris Chermak, a Republican. "We have great broadband, generally speaking, access to New York City and other places."
“I’m not sure like the train, maybe the train, I don’t know the facts, the pros and cons,” McCormick added.

Make Sure to Hide the Plain Truth
Why is New York Times campaign coverage so bad? Because that’s what the publisher wants. It’s an increasingly common critique of the New York Times: The largest, most influential news organization in the nation is not warning sufficiently of the threat to democracy — while at the same time bashing President Joe Biden at every opportunity. And it’s been a bit of a mystery. Why would a newsroom full of talented and mostly liberal reporters be engaging in such damaging behavior? Well, mystery solved. It’s because that’s what the publisher wants.

A Come to Moses MomentFrom Haaretz, a different pressure point: an official inquiry into the 2021 Mount Meron disaster, where 45 people were crushed to death by a crowd at a poorly managed religious observance. The point this editorial makes is that Netanyahu’s excuses won’t work for Oct. 7, either. One Fiasco After Another: Meron Disaster Report Also Finds Netanyahu Guilty for October 7 The commission's members were not impressed by Netanyahu's argument that 'you cannot be responsible for what you don't know.' Once the October 7 massacre, forewarned for years, undergoes investigation, he won't be able to rely on this defense "If they had grabbed by my coat lapels and said, 'Look, there's going to be a terrible disaster,' I promise you that I would have handled it," declared Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the State Commission of Inquiry into the Meron Disaster. Earlier, he was presented with letters, reports by the state comptroller and other warnings he had received over the years before the events at the site. Time after time, the prime minister tried to evade responsibility for the failure that resulted in the deaths of scores of people. His stepping stones to escape were, "I didn't know," "I didn't investigate deeply," "I don't recall," "I don't know," "I didn't receive it," "I didn't deal with that," "The person responsible should do his job," "The prime minister's name is on thousands of requests," "The prime minister doesn't deal with that," "I can only be responsible for a thing that I see," and, "You cannot be responsible for what you don't know."… The sharply-worded commission report makes it clear that its members didn't fall into Netanyahu's trap. "On the basis of all the material and evidence presented to us and our direct impression of them, we conclude that there is a reasonable basis to conclude that Netanyahu knew that the site of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai's grave was improperly dealt with for years, and that it was liable to be a danger to the masses that visit the site, especially on Lag Ba'Omer," they wrote. "Even if, for the sake of caution, we assume Netanyahu didn't have concrete knowledge of the matter, under the circumstances of the matter, he should have known… Netanyahu's claim that 'he wasn't grabbed by his coat lapel' cannot be accepted." One Fiasco After Another: Meron Disaster Report Also Finds Netanyahu Guilty for October 7
