Church Bulletin Bloopers
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our community. Smile at someone who is hard to love. Say "Hell" to someone who doesn't care much about you.

Department spokesperson Sabrina Singh told Politico, “We know all too well the dangers of conspiracy theories, so to set the record straight—Taylor Swift is not part of a DOD psychological operation. Period.”

We Can All Thank Previous Guy For the Mess in the Middle East.
His decision to pull out of the Iranian nuclear deal made Iran more militant and agreessive. It strenthened the hard-liners in their government. If we were still in the deal, the attack on Israel would likely have never happened.
W's decision to invade Iraq didn't help things either.

Grassley Joins the Chaos Caucus
Grassley’s comment wasn’t a gaffe.
Even as the resident senior citizen around here, I find myself wishing that I could write off Iowa Senator Chuck Grasley’s latest gaucherie as the result of senility. But no such luck.
When Grassley raised doubts about a bipartisan tax cut bill because it would make President Biden “look good,” and make it harder for Donald Trump to regain the White House, the remark hardly qualified as a gaffe in today’s GOP.
To be sure, the octogenarian seemed confused about some of the details. “Passing a tax bill that makes the president look good — mailing out checks before the election — means he could be re-elected, and then we won’t extend the 2017 tax cuts,” Grassley said. There are, however, no checks in this bill. It’s a tax credit. For children.1 The bill is also packed with goodies for businesses, making it exactly the sort of thing that Republicans from the Before Times would have enthusiastically embraced.
The legislation is so popular that it passed a bitterly divided House by a huge margin — 357-70. Now it goes to the Senate where it faces Grassley. And Trump.
At this point, the details of the bill aren’t really that important here. What Grassley was saying was that helping Trump is more important than that passing any legislation. And, despite the House vote, he reflected the central dynamic of the GOP in 2024.
It’s why Republicans will likely kill a border bill that includes almost everything they want.
It’s why they have tanked proposals to aid Ukraine and Israel.
It’s why they consistently opt for chaos over the more mundane business of actual governing.
It’s just the GOP’s latest sop to Cerberus.

There's No Such Thing as a Free Lunch --- At Mar-a-Lago
Former President Donald Trump, a man known for making a literal mess when he’s upset, once threw papers across a table and stormed out of a deposition after learning his legal team had agreed to provide lunch for opposing attorney Roberta Kaplan, the lawyer said on a podcast Thursday.
Kaplan has represented Trump sexual assault accuser E. Jean Carroll and Mary Trump, the former president’s niece, in high-profile cases against him. While providing a deposition at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida resort and residence, Trump requested that they work through a lunch break, but Kaplan declined.
“And then you could kind of see the wheel spinning in his brain. You could really almost see it,” Kaplan recounted, to the hosts of “George Conway Explains it All (to Sarah Longwell). “And [Trump] said, ‘Well, you’re here in Mar-a-Lago. What do you think you’re going to do for lunch? Where are you going to get lunch?’”
Kaplan said she explained to Trump that his lawyers had offered to provide Kaplan’s team with lunch, prompting an explosion from Trump.
“There was a huge pile of documents, exhibits, sitting in front of him, and he took the pile and he just threw it across the table and stormed out of the room,” Kaplan said.
He yelled at his lawyer, Alina Habba, over the situation, Kaplan added.

FBI: Feds Blotched ItSpecial counsel questioned witnesses about 2 rooms FBI didn't search inside Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence:
Special counsel Jack Smith's team has questioned several witnesses about a closet and a so-called "hidden room" inside former President Donald Trump's residence at Mar-a-Lago that the FBI didn't check while searching the estate in August 2022, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. As described to ABC News, the line of questioning in several interviews ahead of Trump's indictment last year on classified document charges suggests that -- long after the FBI seized dozens of boxes and more than 100 documents marked classified from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate -- Smith's team was trying to determine if there might still be more classified documents there. According to sources, some investigators involved in the case came to later believe that the closet, which was locked on the day of the search, should have been opened and checked. As investigators would later learn, Trump allegedly had the closet's lock changed while his attorney was in Mar-a-Lago's basement, searching for classified documents in a storage room that he was told would have all such documents. Trump's alleged efforts to conceal classified documents from both the FBI and his own attorney are a key part of Smith's indictment against Trump in Florida. Sounds Like Obstruction of Justice to Me

I'm Rooting for the Eagles, Even If they Aren't in the Super BowlCalifornia bald eagles care for 3 eggs as global fans root for successful hatching
A California bald eagle couple is now caring for three eggs as their loyal international following monitors the little family with bated breath. Jackie and Shadow have been taking turns keeping the clutch warm since Jackie laid the first egg on Jan. 25; the other two followed on Jan. 28 and 31. Their nest sits high above the small mountain town of Big Bear, about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, and their lives are on display 24 hours a day on a webcam. "Jackie and Shadow are running a smooth well-organized household for their new 'party of five,'" according to a Facebook post by Friends of Big Bear Valley, which runs the webcam and monitors all of Jackie and Shadow's milestones. Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning. "They could have three little newly hatched chicks scurrying around the nest in just about a month or so!" says the post. This year's eggs are the couple's first since two eggs failed to hatch last year. Since Jackie and Shadow first mated about six years ago, they've had at least 14 eggs, including the newest ones. Of those, only two ultimately survived. The couple's struggles have their fans extra hopeful and excited this time around.

It's the Fuelish Thing to Do
Ukraine appears to be targeting Russia's oil and gas industry with small, cheap drones as it seeks to disrupt Russian supply lines.
Fires have broken out at several Russian energy infrastructure locations over the past few weeks following suspected drone strikes, including at a major oil refinery operated by Lukoil in the southwestern Volgograd region on Saturday.
Videos posted on Telegram appear to show firefighters battling the blaze, which took place nearly 400 miles from the Ukrainian border.
Similar incidents have occurred across Russia in the past month, including the Slavneft-Yanos oil refinery, an oil refinery in Tuapse, a storage facility in Klintsy, and a Baltic Sea Ust-Luga terminal.
A source from the Security Service of Ukraine, Ukraine's spy agency, told The Kyiv Post last week that the agency was behind the attacks.
"The SBU is striking deep into Russia and continues to attack facilities that are not only important for the Russian economy but also provide fuel for enemy troops. There will be many surprises to come, the systematic work continues," they said.
