Some Poor Lawyer Will Have to Wade Throught This Cesspool
Special counsel Jack Smith will have access to Donald Trump's Twitter account, a court has ruled.
A split panel of D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals judges ruled against X's effort to appeal Smith's search warrant. X is the social media network formally known as Twitter.
"It is ORDERED that the petition be denied," the order stated.
Other Lawyers Leave the Cesspool. They Won't Lose the Stink.
Donald Trump has lost three lawyers in just one day as Joseph Tacopina's withdrawal from representing him meant another two attorneys from his firm also dropped out of the former president's defense, Newsweek reported.
Tacopina, a key lawyer who was representing Trump in his New York hush money case and the appeal of last year's ruling in the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial, withdrew his firm's services Monday, just two months before the criminal case was set to begin.

One Candidate is Old. The Other is Old, Greedy, Stupid, and Nuts.
Former GOP strategist Ana Navarro all but begged Democrats to stop fretting about President Joe Biden's age -- especially when the alternative is former President Donald Trump.
Appearing on CNN Tuesday, Navarro expressed bewilderment that Democrats always focus on the flaws of their own party's leadership while the current GOP frontrunner is loaded with political baggage.
"One of my issues is that even Democrats have been fretting over Biden's age, and you know, I look at this as a Republican and I'm just puzzled by it because I look at Donald Trump and walking around in Iowa, he looked like he was in his last breath a couple of times," she said. "He says crazy things, when he's not talking about magnets, he's talking about windmills. Yesterday he said he won Iowa twice, he didn't. He lost in 2016."

She then argued that Nikki Haley was the only Trump rival to regularly point out his age, whereas she feels that most Democrats want to put Biden "in an old folks' home and out to pasture."
Democratic strategist David Axelrod, who has been frequently critical of Biden's campaign strategy, said that Democrats needed to acknowledge that Biden's age is "an obstacle to overcome."
"How do you overcome it?" Navarro shot back. "He's 81!"

Some Good News for Black AmericaI’ve written about work by David Autor, Arindrajit Dube and Annie McGrew showing that the post-Covid economic recovery has produced especially large wage gains at the lower portion of the scale, compressing the wage distribution. Wages in America are still highly unequal but not as unequal as they were just a few years ago. In fact, they found, we’ve reversed almost 40 percent of the rise in one key measure of inequality that took place during the great income divergence from 1979 to 2019. And because lower overall inequality disproportionately helps Black Americans, one effect has been a “historic reduction in racial wage disparities,” Dube posted on social media. Why did wage inequality fall? A number of states increased their minimum wages. Unions won some victories, and fear of unionization may have pushed some employers to increase pay. The main factor, however, was surely a tight labor market: Full employment greatly increases workers’ bargaining power. Full employment also did wonders for another aspect of racial disparities: high Black unemployment. Last hired, first fired is still a very real fact of race relations in America; one measure of our success in finally achieving something like full employment is that the gap between Black and white unemployment rates is the smallest it has been since the government started collecting data on the subject. Full Employment Is Good for Society

The Other 49%
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) flagged one takeaway that could spell bad news for the GOP after Donald Trump’s comfortable victory in the Iowa caucuses on Monday.
Pritzker, in an interview with MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, noted that “almost half” of the Republican Party’s base showed up to vote against the former president. Trump, as of early Tuesday morning, received 51% of the vote.
“I mean, this is the most famous Republican. He’s the guy who, you know, basically built the modern Republican Party, the MAGA Republican Party that the Democrats are running against, and half the people in that party didn’t vote for Donald Trump,” he said.
The Illinois governor added that the results, which show an overwhelming win by the GOP front-runner who faces 91 felony charges over four criminal cases, were “telling.”
“It tells you the weakness of Donald Trump and also the opportunity for Democrats, ’cause in the end, look, if the base doesn’t turn out for Donald Trump in the general election enthusiastically, and Democrats turn out its base, this is all about independents, and independents don’t like Donald Trump,” said Pritzker, a Biden campaign surrogate.
“So, I think we’re in a pretty good place tonight to see what’s happening on the Republican side,” he said.
