Placing Blame where Looney Tunes Thinks it Belongs. She Doesn't Think Groping in a Theater Had Anything to Do With It.
Lauren Boebert is blaming Barbra Streisand and Ryan Reynolds for forcing her to abandon her Colorado congressional seat and stand in a safe GOP district.
It's a continuation of her claim that well-funded liberals from outside the region have targeted her.
Speaking to Steve Bannon on his "War Room" podcast this past weekend, Boebert (R-CO) said that "Hollywood elites" have been "trying to buy" her current district.
"There has been close to $10 million poured into this district to buy this seat. Colorado's 3rd District is not for sale," she said.
"When you have Barbra Streisand coming in and donating to the Democrat, when you have Ryan Reynolds coming in and donating to the Democrat, it shows you that Hollywood is trying to buy their way into Congress," Boebert told Bannon.
As Business Insider points out, Boebert has attacked Streisand and Reynolds for backing her opponents before. In November, she said her opponent "has plenty of funding from Soros dark money and even Hollywood liberals like Barbra Streisand and Ryan Reynolds."

Ode From Billy Joe
Rockers Green Day changed the lyrics to one of their classic songs to slam Donald Trump during a New Year's Eve performance viewed by millions.
The band performed their song "American Idiot" on Dick Clark's New Year's Eve Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, but sneaked in a dig at Trump and his followers.
"I'm not part of the MAGA agenda," sang Billie Joe Armstrong, instead of the song's actual line, "I'm not part of a redneck agenda."
The song was written as a statement about George W. Bush and his invasion of Iraq, but Green Day has frequently criticized Trump. Band members yelled 'No Trump" during a performance at the American Music Awards in 2016, and last year they promoted new merch that incorporated the former president's Fulton County mugshot.
After All, the Song IS Called "American Idiot". Who Is the Biggest Idiot in America?

Helos Harm a Houthi
On Sunday at 6:30am Yemen time (03:30 GMT), the container ship Maersk Hangzhou issued a second distress call in a day, reporting being attacked by four “Houthi small boats”, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) posted on X.
In response to the distress call, CENTCOM said, the USS Gravely shot down two anti-ship missiles fired at the Maersk vessel then helicopters from the Gravely and the USS Eisenhower were dispatched towards the Maersk Hangzhou.
The US’s CENTCOM says that its helicopters warned the Houthi fighters to stay away when they began to attack the cargo ship with small arms fire and tried to board the vessel.
At that point, CENTCOM said, the helicopters came under fire and fired back, killing the 10 Houthi crew members of three boats which also sank.

Just Eat a Burger and FriesThe quintessentially British fish and chips is endangered. Why?Ever since she was old enough to walk, Terrilea Coglan was climbing aboard fishing boats that set sail each morning from the rocky beachfront of Hastings to harvest the key ingredient in Britain’s most iconic dish: fish and chips. The day’s catch travels just a short way from the boats up to the seaside fish and chips shops, or “chippies,” that pride themselves as much in the freshness of the fish as in the secret recipes for their gooey batter. Coglan’s parents and grandparents were in the fish trade, and now her sons are, too. But these days Coglan fears they may be the last. “It’s our way of life,” says Coglan, leaning against a fishing boat during a break from hawking filets at her beachside kiosk. “It’s in my blood. It’s part of me. And it’s quite sad to think that it might not be here for much longer.” All along the British coast, towns like Hastings are being squeezed by a cost-of-living crisis that’s hit the supply chain behind fish and chips, pushing up prices beyond what some are willing to pay for a humble, if comforting, weeknight meal. The cost of diesel to power the fishing boats, the sunflower oil to fry the fish and the electricity to run the friers have all skyrocketed as a consequence of the war in Ukraine, figures from the U.K.’s Office of National Statistics show. Fish that Coglan used to sell for a couple of British pounds (about $2) per bag now go for a couple of pounds per fish. Coglan says her customers complain constantly. Recently, the dwindling revenues forced her to get a second job, also in fish, as a salesperson at another monger’s shop. “It’s always been a cheap thing, fish, and now it’s just really not,” she said. Over the next few years, the National Federation of Fish Friers, which represents “chippies,” predicts that a third of the U.K.’s roughly 10,5000 chippies may close for good, while the company Sarson’s, which makes the malt vinegar served ubiquitously alongside the fried fish, has predicted as many as half could shutter. The high prices are threatening a billion-dollar business and a staple of the British menu: Every year, Brits eat more than 382 million orders of fish and chips, the federation says. [

It Really Does Pay For Itself. No! Not Tax Cutting.Conservatives have long badgered Congress’ own numbers crunchers, with some success, to say tax cuts aren’t as expensive as they look. But in a turnabout, liberals now have something to cheer for from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. In a paper published last month, the CBO said Medicaid and other programs that provide a long-term boost for the recipients’ economic prospects may be far cheaper than their initial price tags, once those long-term effects are included in the calculus. The study argues that those higher lifetime earnings would in turn boost economic growth, which would then result in more money sent to federal coffers in taxes in the decades ahead. Gideon Lukens, director of research and data analysis with the liberal Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, told HuffPost the CBO paper was significant because it took something on which there is broad scholarly agreement — programs like Medicaid can have a beneficial effect for enrollees far into the future — and then showed the budget impact. Exploring the Effects of Medicaid During Childhood on the Economy and the Budget

All Those Hambuders Must Have Taken a Toll on Previous Guy.
Despite its nickname as the “good cholesterol” because of its cardiovascular benefits, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol was linked to as much as a 42 percent increased risk for dementia in older people with very high levels of HDL, according to research published in a Lancet journal, the Lancet Regional Health - Western Pacific.
Although HDL helps remove cholesterol from people’s arteries, the researchers wrote that, at very high levels, HDL’s structure and actions change, and it “may become deleterious to health” in various ways.
For more than six years, they tracked 18,668 study participants, all 65 or older and all physically and cognitively healthy at the start of the study. In those years, cognitive dementia was diagnosed in 850 participants (4.6 percent).
Those with very high HDL levels were more likely to have developed dementia than were those with more optimal HDL levels. For instance, the oldest participants with high HDL levels (those 75 or older) were 42 percent more likely to have developed dementia than those with normal HDL levels, and overall, anyone with high HDL levels had a 27 percent increased risk for dementia. For adults, an HDL level of 40 mg/dL or higher is considered healthy for men and 50 mg/dL or higher is considered a healthy level for women. For the study, very high levels of HDL were considered to be 80 mg/dL or higher.
The researchers wrote that the increased dementia risk from high HDL levels “appeared to be independent of traditional dementia risk factors, including physical activity level, alcohol intake, education, diabetes or smoking,” as well as genetic influences.

Unlicensed workers to inject unapproved products in unsanitary conditions. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
The number of med spas and hydration clinics has ballooned in recent years, turning into a $15 billion wellness industry offering a variety of services, from IV therapy to skin care and cosmetic procedures. Federal health officials and representatives of med spa owners warn consumers that, along with the boom, some facilities are using unlicensed workers to inject unapproved products in unsanitary conditions.
It’s difficult to know how many people have been injured at med spas, because the infections often are not reported to local or state health departments. But some infectious disease and emergency room doctors say they are seeing more adverse reactions associated with the facilities.
