How could a mid-major come into Pauley and give us a competive game? They might be an elite mid-major. That's not St. Francis.
They might be an older team with a ton of experience playing together. That's not St. Francis.
They might have a bunch of 3-point shooters who could get hot. That's not St. Francis.
KenPom ranks them as #358 out of #362 teams in D1. (We are #26.) Last season they were #336. There's nothing to suggest that this will be a competive game.
St. Francis finished 4th in the 9-team NEC, which includes Farliegh Dickenson, but they are not expected to be that good this year. They don't return much production, experience, size , or maturity.
They return their #6 and #9 scorers who accounted for 8 points last season. None of their top 6 rebounders are back.
Their tallest guy is 6-9.
Their roster consists of 3 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 10 freshmen. The only junior who played for them last season played a total of 18 minutes all season.
They are as young as we are, and FAR less talented.
Do you want a reason to worry? They did beat Farliegh Dickenson last season who went on to beat Purdue. However, none of the starters from the FDU game are back.
Here are the St Francis players (Red Flashers??) who have ever played in a D1 game:
Cam Gregory is their lone returning starter, however, he didn't seem to do anything particulary well. He was #2 in assists, but with a poor 1.4 A/TO ratio. He did score 15 against Ohio State.
The one guy to look out for is Wisler Sanon, who was a good three-point shooter last season, although he shot less than one per game. We don't want to leave him open on the outside.

Here's a story about the Red Flash.
The Saint Francis men's basketball team has been picked to finish eighth according to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on Tuesday at the beginning of the NEC Social Media Day broadcast live on NEC Front Row and ESPN3.
Sacred Heart received seven first-place votes to be selected as the preseason favorite, while Central Connecticut State and FDU each garnered a first-place nod to finish 2-3 in the poll. Defending NEC regular season and tournament champion Merrimack finishes fourth and was followed by Wagner, Stonehill, LIU, Saint Francis and Le Moyne in the nine-team poll.
The Loretto program will be one of only three teams in NCAA Division I without a senior on its roster and one of the youngest teams in the nation. Saint Francis returns seven players from last year's team, led by sophomore Cam Gregory (Accokeek, Md.). The sophomore appeared in 28 games and 19 starts and is the team's top returner with 5.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while ranking third on the team with 74 assists. The sophomore registered four double figure point games as a freshman, including a career-high 15 points at Ohio State that led to him being named the NEC Rookie of the Week for his efforts.
The squad also returns sophomore Gestin Liberis (Havertown, Pa.) and Wisler Sanon II (Sicklerville, N.J.), who both appeared in 30 games, and each had a double figure point performance in their first season in Loretto. Junior Brendan Scanlon (State College, Pa.), and sophomores Daric Danchanko (Johnstown, Pa.) and Miles Webb (Arlington, Va.) also return after seeing limited action in 2022-23.
Head coach Rob Krimmel added 12 players to the team in 2023-24, including University of Evansville sophomore transfer Chris Moncrief (Turtle Creek, Pa.), who appeared in 19 games for the Aces. The Red Flash also signed freshmen Braylen Blue (Sun Prairie, Wisc.), Aidan Harris (Annapolis, Md.), Aaron Humphrey, Jr. (Indianapolis, Ind.), Carlos Lopez, Jr. (Egg Harbor, N.J.), Bobby Rosenberger III (Quakertown, Pa.), Aaron "Ace" Talbert (Wyandanch, N.Y.) and Eli Wilborn (Middletown, Conn.).
Twice under Krimmel the Red Flash has been picked in the bottom half of the poll and finished at least two spots better than the poll. In 2015-16, the Frankies were picked eighth and placed eighth, while the 2016-17 was picked ninth and finished fourth. That season, the Red Flash advanced to its first of three NEC Championship games. In addition, last year FDU was picked seventh and ended up earning the second-ever No. 16 upset over a No. 1 win against Purdue in the NCAA Tournament.
Saint Francis finished 13-17 overall last season and 9-7 in NEC play.
