I entered the 'How not to surrender' competition and I won hands down. How Irresponsible is TV Coverage of Hurricanes?- Reporters and anchors standing outside reporting that officials are asking people to stay indoors.
- Reporting from areas with mandatory evacuations to show us that hurricanes bring wind and water. They not only put their own people at risk, but give the message that it's OK to ignore official orders and warnings.
- Interviewing people who stayed behing in mandatory evacuation areas, giving them national TV time and thanking them for reporting
- Putting on long interviews with politicians like US Senators who have nothing to say.

Can the Depths Fox Noise Goes to Still Shock You?
Former President Donald Trump's arrest and prosecution for the Georgia election racketeering case, complete with a publicly released mugshot, has led Fox News pundits to converge on a new talking point: this will actually help Trump with Black voters, because now he's been arrested, he'll look more credible and relatable to them.
MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, in discussion with civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton on Tuesday, was stunned that such a racist idea was being thrown around on cable news.
"Rev, you have been arrested protesting for rights," said Reid. "You have been arrested in civil rights marches. You're a civil rights leader. You go back and think about people arrested in the 1960s. John Lewis' mugshot is a badge of honor, but it was what he was arrested for. He was arrested in order to protest for people to vote and have civil rights. Donald Trump wasn't arrested for protesting for civil rights. Donald Trump has been accused of stealing national security, including nuclear secrets. He's been accused of sexual misconduct against a woman, and that's a civil case. He's been accused of attempting to steal an election and conduct a coup."

My Opinion: Why Do Georgia Defendants Want to Go to Trial Before Previous Guy?
Because previous guy will blame everyone else for the crimes in his trial. He will throw the other 18 under the bus.
They want their trial before he gets the chance to do this.

They Aren't Monkeying Around in India
Indian officials preparing for the G20 summit next week have hired teams of "monkey-men" and erected primate cutouts to deter marauding monkeys from munching on the floral displays laid out for global leaders.
New Delhi's city council has hired more than 30 "monkey wallahs", or "monkey-men", who mimic the hoots and screams of the aggressive langur monkey -- the natural enemy of the smaller rhesus macaque primates who wreak havoc in the capital's leafy government areas.
"We can't remove the monkeys from their natural habitat, so we have deployed a team of 30-40 men who are trained to scare away monkeys," Satish Upadhyay, the vice-chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council, told AFP on Wednesday.

Extra Credit If You Can Pronouce His Name
India's teen chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa arrived home to celebration Wednesday, with media jostling to catch a glimpse of the newly minted star who faced international No.1 Magnus Carlsen in the World Cup final.
Popularly known as "Pragg", the 18-year-old is the youngest player to reach a chess World Cup final, held last week in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.
Pragg finished with the silver after losing to Carlsen in a nail-biting tiebreak at the International Chess Federation (FIDE) final.
He earned praise from chess legend Garry Kasparov who said Pragg was "very tenacious in difficult positions".

This is a Heavy Punishment
An Iranian weightlifter has been given a lifetime ban by Iran's weightlifting federation after talking to and shaking hands with an Israeli participant at the World Masters Championship.
Mostafa Rajai won silver at the event and was snapped on the podium standing next to the Israeli bronze medallist.
Iran's top weightlifting body later banned him from all sports facilities in the country for life.
Iran's authorities ban athletes from direct competition with Israelis.
As a result, Iranian sportspersons often resort to various methods including throwing games or feigning injury to avoid match-ups.
Rajai, 40, was draped in his country's national flag as he stood next to Israeli athlete Maksim Svirsky on Saturday.
The two were at a non-professional competition for the legends of weightlifting in Wieliczka, Poland.

Ukraine Keeps Attacking Military Targets
Russia said that Ukraine launched drones against targets in six Russian regions, including an attack on an airport in the western city of Pskov – located near the borders of Latvia and Estonia – where military transport aircraft were reported damaged amid explosions and a huge fire.
In what could be the biggest drone attack on Russian territory since Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine last year, Russia’s defence ministry said on Wednesday morning that drones were also shot down over the regions of Orlov, Bryansk, Ryazan, Kaluga and the Moscow region surrounding the Russian capital.
Meanwhile, Russia also launched a missile and drone attack against Kyiv on Wednesday morning that was described as the “most powerful strike” on the Ukrainian capital in months, leaving two people dead and one wounded, the city’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
Ukrainian air defences destroyed more than 20 missiles and drones involved in the attack and two security guards were killed by falling debris, according to authorities.
What Are They Going to Do, Invade and Bomb Ukraine?
Moscow has vowed Ukraine will "not go unpunished" after drone strikes hit targets in Russia

Did Buger King Tell a Whopper?
A U.S. judge has rejected Burger King’s bid to dismiss a lawsuit claiming that it cheated hungry customers by making its Whopper sandwich appear larger than it actually is.
U.S. District Judge Roy Altman in Miami said Burger King must defend against a claim that its depiction of Whoppers on in-store menu boards mislead reasonable customers, amounting to a breach of contract.
Customers in the proposed class action accused Burger King of portraying burgers with ingredients that “overflow over the bun,” making it appear the burgers are 35% larger and contain more than double the meat than the chain serves.
Burger King, a unit of Restaurant Brands International, countered that it wasn’t required to deliver burgers that look “exactly like the picture,” but the judge said it was up to jurors to “tell us what reasonable people think.”
In his decision made public on Friday, Altman also let the customers pursue negligence-based and unjust enrichment claims.
He dismissed claims based on TV and online ads, finding none in which Burger King promised a burger “size,” or patty weight, and failed to deliver it.
“The plaintiffs’ claims are false,” Burger King said in a statement on Tuesday. “The flame-grilled beef patties portrayed in our advertising are the same patties used in the millions of Whopper sandwiches we serve to guests nationwide.”

If It is Too Expensive, Narcan Can't
The opioid overdose antidote Narcan will be available over the counter in the coming days, a move that’s hoped to increase access to the lifesaving medication amid the country’s worsening opioid epidemic.
Emergent BioSolutions, which makes the drug, said Wednesday that shipments were on their way to major retailers, including Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid and CVS. It could also be available to buy online from some businesses this week.
Dr. Scott Hadland, an addiction specialist at Mass General for Children in Boston said the move to over the counter “will help to mainstream Narcan, to make it more normalized for people and their families to carry with them and have at home for safety, which is critical to reducing the rising number of overdose deaths occurring nationally.”
The cost of the drug, however — $44.99 for a box of two doses — may put it out of reach for some.
“Unfortunately, for many people who live with addiction or want to protect a loved one living with addiction, this cost will be too high,” Hadland said. “I know, because I see this in my own practice, in which medications that cost this much are simply out of reach.”

Let's See If They Can Get Blood From a Stone
A federal judge on Wednesday held Rudy Giuliani liable in a defamation lawsuit brought by two Georgia election workers who say they were falsely accused of fraud, entering a default judgment against the former New York City mayor and ordering him to pay tens of thousands of dollars in lawyers' fees.
U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell said the punishment was necessary because Giuliani had ignored his duty as a defendant to turn over information requested by election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea’ ArShaye Moss, as part of their lawsuit.
Their complaint from December 2021 accused Giuliani, one of Donald Trump’s lawyers and a confidant of the former Republican president, of defaming them by falsely stating that they had engaged in fraud while counting ballots at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The ruling enables the case to move forward to a trial in federal court in Washington to determine any damages that Giuliani must pay. He will have a “final opportunity” to produce the requested information, known under the law as discovery, or face additional sanctions if he fails to do so.
In the meantime, Howell said, Giuliani and his business entities must pay more than $130,000 in attorneys' fees and other costs.

Where Did Vivek Rama-Slimy Get His Money
It seems that presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy really is a mini-Trump not just in belief but how he made his money. Essentially, it involves Ramaswamy acquiring a failed pharmaceutical drug that went through four unsuccessful trials that he would market as an Alzheimer's breakthrough. He put his mom, a doctor, on the research team and suddenly, the drug showed remarkable improvement (ahem). The drug was rebranded, and his company took in millions. Yet before the Phase 3 trials began, Ramaswamy and his family emptied their shares.
The saga involves manipulated data, a company named Axovant based in Bermuda, destroyed lives, and alleged insider trading knowledge. The GOP is bending themselves into pretzels trying to tie something, anything, to Joe Biden. But just one minute of research on any of their candidates shows a wealth of corruption. Just thought you should know... Also learned that Ramaswamy is responsible for the rise of his disgraced investor friend Martin Shkreli, aka "pharma bro," and was at one time his biggest investor. Shkreli went to prison for securities fraud after he became famous for price-gouging a life-saving drug.

I Guess They Want to Teach About All the Ways Slaves Oppress Their Owners
Florida reviewers of AP African American Studies sought ‘opposing viewpoints’ of slavery
When Florida rejected a new Advanced Placement course on African American Studies, state officials said they objected to the study of several concepts — like reparations, the Black Lives Matter movement and “queer theory.” But the state did not say that in many instances, its reviewers also made objections in the state’s attempt to sanitize aspects of slavery and the plight of African Americans throughout history, according to a Miami Herald/Tampa Bay Times review of internal state comments. For example, a lesson in the Advanced Placement course focused on how Europeans benefited from trading enslaved people and the materials enslaved laborers produced. The state objected to the content, saying the instructional approach “may lead to a viewpoint of an ‘oppressor vs. oppressed’ based solely on race or ethnicity.”
