I Was Done Posting About DeathSentence. Then He Said This.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) just fired one-third of his campaign staff this week, but he's giving some thought to who he would hire to his presidential administration.
Speaking to the streaming channel OutKick, DeSantis was asked about whether Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be someone he'd consider as a vice presidential running mate. DeSantis explained that there are a lot of issues that they disagree on, like the time RFK Jr. said people who don't believe in climate change belong in jail. But there would be room for him in other parts of his administration.
"Yes, on the medical stuff, I'm very good on that, so that does appeal to me, but there's a whole host of other things that he'd probably be out of step with," said DeSantis. "So, in that regard, you'd say, okay, if you're president, sic him on the FDA if he'd be willing to serve or sic him on CDC. But in terms of being veep, there's 70 percent of the issues that he may be averse to our base on. You know, that just creates an issue."
RFK Jr. told Joe Rogen, falsely, that ivermectin, a de-worming drug, was suppressed by the FDA as part of a plot by the government to push COVID-19 vaccines and get them emergency use authorization.
In June, he tweeted he would "hold the agencies and individuals responsible, and we will compensate the vaccine injured."
He also linked "vaccine research" to HIV and Spanish Flu.
He's pledged to gut the FDA entirely if he's elected as president. The FDA requires regulations and standards for medicines before they're sold to the broad public.
And This Happened
Oldest Black fraternity pulls 2025 convention out of Florida citing 'hostile' policies
The event was expected to generate $4.6 million, according to Alpha Phi Alpha.
Alpha Phi Alpha, whose membership has included historical figures like civil rights leaders Martin Luther King, Jr., Adam Clayton Powell and Thurgood Marshall, joins other national Black organizations that have either pulled their conventions out of Florida or denounced the DeSantis administration's policies, including the recent approval of the state's African American history standards.

The Biden Boom Bounces On
The US economy defied expectations of a slowdown as growth accelerated in the second quarter, according to government data released Thursday, supported by business investment and resilient consumer spending.
GDP growth in the world's biggest economy hit an annual rate of 2.4 percent for the April-June period, said the Commerce Department, despite analyst predictions of a cooldown from two percent growth in the first three months this year.
Although economists have been warning of a potential downturn as the US central bank raised interest rates rapidly to tamp down demand and lower inflation, the economy has proven stronger than expected.
In the first quarter, GDP growth was revised sharply higher from initial estimates of 1.1 percent, boosted by consumption in the face of elevated interest rates.
On Thursday, the rise in GDP also "reflected increases in consumer spending, nonresidential fixed investment, state and local government spending" and other areas, said the Commerce Department.

"What Are You Taking For Your Fungal Infection, Honey?" "Australian Ant Honey, Honey"The medicinal value and potent antimicrobial activity of honey has been a topic of considerable interest in recent years, particularly in light of the alarming rise in antibiotic resistance. While most honey comes from honey bees (Apis mellifera), other insects such as stingless bees, wasps and even ants can produce honey-like products from plant nectar. One of these insects is the honeypot ant Camponotus inflatus, found throughout the central desert region of Australia. We set out to determine whether its honey might be medically useful. Our results, published in PeerJ, show the honey has powerful anti-microbial effects, particularly against certain heat-tolerant yeasts and moulds which resist most current antifungal drugs. Unique antimicrobial activity in honey from the Australian honeypot ant (Camponotus inflatus)

That's It! I'm Boycotting Fencing
World Fencing Championships: Ukraine's Olga Kharlan disqualified for refusing Russian Anna Smirnov's handshake
Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan has been disqualified for refusing to shake hands with Russian Anna Smirnova at the World Fencing Championships.
Kharlan, the first fencer to face a Russian or Belarusian since the former's full-scale invasion of her homeland, won 15-7 in Milan.
The 32-year-old rejected Smirnova's handshake afterwards, instead offering her sabre to tap blades.
It led to an appeal from Smirnova, who staged a 45-minute sit-down protest.
The Russian, competing under a neutral flag, remained standing on the piste following the first-round contest before being handed a chair as her protest continued.

At Least Whe Wasn't Texting and Driving
An 11-year-old Florida girl was arrested after falsely texting authorities that her friend was kidnapped by an armed man. She later confessed the prank was part of a YouTube challenge.
The girl texted 911 Wednesday morning to say her friend, 14, was abducted by “an armed male driving a white van on South I-95 in Oak Hill,” the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The girl said she was following the van in a blue Jeep. NBC News is not identifying the 11-year-old because she is a minor.
A dispatcher to the sheriff's communication advised the sheriff's office at 9:45 a.m. of a “suspicious incident reported by text message.”
The 11-year-old then texted updates for the next hour and a half — describing the male suspect and saying he had a gun.
Deputies responded along with help from the sheriff's office aviation unit and officers from Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange to search for the suspect vehicle — but no van was found.
At about 10:30 a.m., deputies tracked the cellphone that was texting 911 to a home in Port Orange. Once at the home, they spoke with the girl's father, who said she was inside with her family.
“As deputies approached the girl, she was holding her cell phone, which was ringing as she walked out to meet the deputies. When answered, Volusia Sheriff’s Dispatch was on the line and deputies verified they were on scene,” the sheriff's office said.
She told deputies she was inspired to prank 911 through a "YouTube challenge" and thought it "would be funny."
The child was charged with making a false police report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner, a felony, and misuse of 911, a misdemeanor.
The sheriff's office shared a snippet of body camera footage showing the girl with her hands cuffed behind her back, with her face blurred. In the clip, the girl says shakily: “I’m not going to do this again.”
Notice How nice the Cops Are to a White Girl

Remember the War in Ukraine?
Ukrainian officials have told U.S. officials that the enlarged Ukrainian force would try to advance south through Russia’s minefields and other fortifications toward the city of Tokmak, and, if successful, on to Melitopol, near the coast.
That is indeed the most heavily fortified part of Russia’s defenses, because everyone knows it’s the most strategically important. This part is way optimistic:
The new operation, if successful, could take one to three weeks, Ukrainian officials have told officials in Washington.
If Ukrainian forces are in Tokmak in three weeks, it’s a much different war.
Wouldn’t it be funny if just days after The Wall Street Journal declared Ukraine’s counteroffensive “stalled,” it would start making serious progress against those entrenched Russian defenses?
If Russian Telegram sources are to be believed, that’s exactly what is finally happening.

Did you Know Europe Doesn't Have Flush Toilets, Hot Water, and Cars?
Fox Business host Larry Kudlow blasted the Biden administration Tuesday over proposed regulations targeting multiple appliances, including water heaters.
The Biden administration proposed new regulations on water heaters Friday, following an effort to regulate gas stoves, while the New York City Department of Environmental Protection proposed requiring wood and coal-fired pizza ovens installed before 2016 to have emission control devices, according to the New York Post. “Folks, enjoy the cold shower you’re headed for. You can turn the dials as much as you want but it will still be even colder,” Kudlow, a former Trump administration official, said.
“The big government socialists at the Biden Administration insist on completely ruining our daily lives,” Kudlow continued. “They’re going after every imaginable creature comfort that used to make America the most wonderful place to live in. Now they will turn us into Europe, which doesn’t even have a lot of this stuff the way we do. What’s this stuff? Well, for starters, how about shower heads, air conditioners, toilet flushing, light bulbs, washers and dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, gas cars and trucks, coal fired pizza ovens, microwaves and that’s just for starters.”
“Joe Biden wants to take them away from us all in the name of climate change, as though carbon emissions could actually truly be measured over 50 years from the Biden heist of our way of living,” Kudlow added.

Good News in the Fight to Address Our Shortage of Workers.
The number of migrant families with children crossing the southern border has nearly tripled in the past two months, according to Customs and Border Protection data obtained by NBC News, feeding concern among some senior administration officials about a potential uptick in overall migrant crossings.
Earlier this week, more than 2,230 migrants were crossing the border daily on average, up from 790 in early June. While single adults are still the largest demographic seen at the border, families are the fastest-growing demographic of undocumented border crossers, according to the data. Most of the migrants are from northern Central America and Mexico, according to the data.
Three senior Department of Homeland Security officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity say they are closely watching the number of families coming because of growing concern the numbers could soon spike and send border numbers back to near record highs.
Immigrant advocates say more families are crossing to escape poverty and violence in their home countries, as well as to escape cartels and extreme heat they encounter while waiting to cross in Mexico.

It's Never a Good Thing When Your Bicycle Explodes
The explosion early on a June morning ignited a blaze that engulfed a New York City shop filled with motorized bicycles and their volatile lithium-ion batteries. Billowing smoke quickly killed four people asleep in apartments above the burning store.
As the ubiquity of e-bikes has grown, so has the frequency of fires and deaths blamed on the batteries that power them, prompting a campaign to establish regulations on how the batteries are manufactured, sold, reconditioned, charged and stored.
Consumer advocates and fire departments, particularly in New York City, are urging the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to establish mandatory safety standards and confiscate noncompliant imports when they arrive at the border or shipping ports, so that unsafe e-bikes and poorly manufactured batteries don't reach streets and endanger homes.
These aren’t typical fires, said New York City Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. The batteries don’t smolder; they explode.
“The number of fire incidents has rapidly increased. Other cities across the country have begun seeing these issues as well, and municipalities that are not yet experiencing this phenomenon may be facing similar incidents in the future," Kavanagh told the commission Thursday at a forum focused on e-bikes and lithium-ion batteries.

It's Never a Good Thing When Your Car Lies to You
Your Tesla's range estimator might be lying to you.
A report from Reuters exposing an entire team of people hired at Tesla to suppress range complaints revealed that Elon Musk's electric vehicle company has rigged its range estimation algorithms to show drivers more aspirational range projections on a full charge.
A source told Reuters that when a Tesla battery falls below 50% of its maximum range, the algorithm adjusts to give a more accurate picture of the remaining mileage on the battery. This adjustment was designed to prevent Tesla drivers from getting stranded, the source told Reuters.
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment. Tesla and Elon Musk did not respond to questions from Reuters, it said.
Battery range is one of the most important considerations for EV shoppers, automotive retail experts have said. These ranges can be a deal-breaker or maker for any particular shopper, especially if they don't have a home-charging solution.
Tesla has long carried a reputation for being the best at easing range anxiety with its impressive advertised ranges and robust Supercharger network. In fact, the Supercharger network is so crucial to Tesla's success that other companies are paying to use it in the future.
With the rollout of the Cybertruck, range will be more important than ever. Pickup trucks require big batteries to carry their heavy frames longer distances. Tesla's competitors in the electric truck segment have already struggled with this metric, and if Musk can create a perceived edge on this issue he could add to Cybertruck's appeal.
