CHANGES
Added freshman Aidan Cammann.
============================
Once upon a time, Stanford was good at the two major sports. Back in the days of yore. Those days are gone. (When was Yore?)
Next are the 10th place Stanford Cardinal. I predicted, "I expect a couple of surprising wins and a couple of terrible losses, with a lot of mediocrity in between." They had a win over Arizona. They lost to California. They were mediocre at best. I was close.
In seven seasons on the Farm, Jerod Haase's teams have never been to the NCAA tournament. Their best finish in the league was 3rd, which is the only year they finished with a winning record in the Pac-12.
At most schools, Haase wouldn't have been given a 8th season. However, this is Stanford. They pride themselves on not being most schools. They are great at winning in sports that no one follows.
Most of Jarod Haase's teams have been very good defensively. The last two seasons they were not. KenPom ranked them #157 in defensive efficiency.
They were a decent offense, ranking #33 in KenPom.

TRANSFERRING OUT
It used to be that no one transferred out of Stanford. Those days are gone, just like the days of yore. Last season 4 players transferred out. This season they upped that to 5 players.
In his second season on the Farm, Ingram was starting to look like the McDonalds All American he was. Just in time for him to leave.
By losing Ingram and O'Connell, Stanford loses their two team leaders in assists. Silva was their backup PG. This leaves them with a gaping hole at the PG spot.
Ingram, O'Connell, and Begovich will all be seeing each other, since they are all headed to the ACC. They are transferring to schools that hate each other. From teammates to enemies. Weird.
RETURNING
In spite of all the players leaving, Stanford returns a nice group. For a bunch of 3-star and unranked players, they have been pretty productive. Just about everybody on the team is a good 3-point shooter.
Spencer Jones is an excellent player, who was second-team All Pac-12. He continues to improve.
Brandon Angel is another very good player, who does everything well.
Michael Jones scored 31 in his first game on the Farm and Stanford looked like they had a star. Unfortunately, he never came close to 31 points for the rest of the season and his shooting was only OK.
Raynaud may be 7'1", but he is listed as a forward. In fact, no one on their roster is listed as a center. Whatever position he plays, he is a decent player.
Max Murrell was a 4-star recruit, but they are still waiting for the proverbial light to come on.
The big question about this roster is who will play point guard.
(#31 class, #4 in Pac-12)
Andrej Stojakovic spurned UCLA to go to Palo Alto. I will never forgive him. He is dead to me. However, he could turn out to be a more than adequate replacement for Harrison Ingram.
Carlyle is also ranked highly.
Aidan Cammann must be a really smart kid and a good student. It remains to be seen if he is much of a basketball player.
I am still looking for a point guard.
Once again Jarod Haase has one of the better recruiting classes in the Pac-12. Will that translate to doing well in the conference?
On average Haase has had the 5th best recruiting class in the league, and on average he has finished in 8th place. He has barely made it to the top half of the league one time in the last 5 years. He has never made the NCAA tournament at Stanford. His best year was 2017-18, when he finished tied for 3rd, and made it to the NIT where he won one game.
In his 5 classes from 2018 to 2022, he has had two 5-star playres and 6 4-star players. He has had good talent, and not done much with it.
TRANSFERRING IN
I think we have solved the case of the missing point guard. Jared Bynum had a 2.6 A/TO ratio. at Providence. However, he can't shoot. He's a career 39% shooter.
CONCLUSION

CONCLUSION
I like a lot of players on this roster. Stanford has the talent to be quite a bit better than last season. If they can improve on their dismal defense from last season, Stanford could be a dangerous. team
HOWEVER, Jerod Haase has fooled me before. Several times I thought Stanford was going to be an NCAA bubble team, only to have them turn out to be quite a bit worse than I predicted. To Quote The Who, I won't get fooled again. Jerod Haase has a real talent for squandering his talent.
They should finish higher than tenth. Then again, they were too talented to finish 10th last season. It's Stanford and Hasse. Who knows?
Aside from coaching, there remains the issue of a PG. Can they win with a primary ball handler who can find his teammates, but who can't find the basket?

According to 247:
The skinny: Stanford caught plenty off-guard when it retained Jerod Haase for another season. Harrison Ingram – Stanford's second-best player last season – leaving for North Carolina was understandable, but still a tough pill to swallow. But Stanford rebounded by keeping Jones around, and Bynum is a huge talent upgrade at point guard.
Wilner:
9. Stanford
Once again, the Cardinal has signed a highly-coveted national recruit — in fact, it landed two of them: forward Andrej Stojakovic and guard Kanaan Carlyle are top-10 players at their positions. Are they enough, when combined with returnee Spencer Jones and Providence transfer Jared Bynum, to propel the program out of its eternal state of stagnation? Count us as skeptical. Coach Jerod Haase hasn’t finished above .500 in conference play since 2018, his second season, and roster management has only gotten more difficult since then. Previous 10
