Extracted from an article from this morning's NYT
"American officials were alarmed by fake text messages and social media posts that said President Trump was locking down the country. Experts see a convergence with Russian tactics."
"Two American officials stressed they did not believe Chinese operatives created the lockdown messages, but rather amplified existing ones. Those efforts enabled the messages to catch the attention of enough people that they then spread on their own, with little need for further work by foreign agents. The messages appeared to gain significant traction on Facebook as they were also proliferating through texts, according to an analysis by The New York Times."
It's not going to be a good year for China as another NYT article reports on how some elements of the Republican Party and associated PAC's are planning to launch a full court press against China, in support of Trump's reelection campaign. Trump will need all the diversionary tactics he can get, because if people really connect the dots, they'll say "You're Fired!

I didn't want to start a new thread for this post. Sago, if you think I'm thread jacking, tell me and I'll move the post.
There was a discussion on BZ about how some of the "anti-lockdowners" looked like pro's.
Apparently, there was a protest in Newport Beach yesterday, which was discussed on a Costa Mesa page. One of the Mesan's responded: "Could be some citizens, along with 'paid agitators.' A friend of mine has a 30-something daughter that does this as a career choice. Right or left...doesn’t matter to her and her co-workers."
I thought that was pretty interesting. I would not be surprised if the Pubs are bussing people around to protest in states w/ a Dem gov.

Nah, leave it be. And I'm sure that work experience will look good on her resume.

there have been lots of articles online about republican groups behind the "grassroots" protests. i'm not surprised that foreign governments are stoking discord on this issue as well. it's not just because there's an unqualified, bloviating moron in the WH, it's because lots of americans are STUPID, and susceptible to nonsense like this.
as for anyone that works as a "paid agitator", well that's just wrong. F anyone like that.
