Will He Go to Jail Because of the Dictionary?
A man who expressed hatred for the Merriam-Webster dictionary's evolving definitions of gender pronouns and adjectives has pleaded guilty to making threats, prosecutors said this week.
Jeremy David Hanson, 34, of Rossmoor, California, used the Merriam-Webster website's comments and contact functions to send multiple threatening messages roughly one year ago, prosecutors said.
Hanson admitted to making the threats in writing as part of a plea agreement Wednesday, prosecutors said. He told the court he often chose the targets of his messages based on their gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
Examples of his threats cited by the U.S. Attorney's Office appeared to show escalating anger on Hanson's part. He initially posted a comment Oct. 2, 2021 that decried the dictionary's definition of "female" as "anti-science propaganda."
The online version of the Merriam-Webster entry for the adjective states, in part: "Having a gender identity that is the opposite of male."
"It is absolutely sickening that Merriam-Webster now tells blatant lies and promotes anti-science propaganda," Hanson said. "There is no such thing as ‘gender identity.’ The imbecile who wrote this entry should be hunted down and shot.”
In Case You Are Wondering, Here is Their Definition of "Male"
a: of, relating to, or being the sex that typically has the capacity to produce relatively small, usually motile gametes which fertilize the eggs of a female b: having a gender identity that is the opposite of female

This Isn't a "Stunt". It is an Act that Can Ruin People's Lives to Win Elections. (Does that Sound Like the Main Activity of the QOP These Days?)
Ron DeSantis’s repulsive Martha’s Vineyard stunt is made for Fox News
When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed voting restrictions last year, he gave exclusive access to this glorious spectacle to Fox News. It was a twofer for the national right-wing audience, flaunting his relish of voter suppression while sticking it to mainstream Fake News outlets in the process.
Now DeSantis has produced another made-for-Fox moment: He is taking credit for delivering two planeloads of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, where locals are scrambling to meet their needs. DeSantis’s staff apparently supplied exclusive video of these heroics to Fox: It shows the migrants, some children, disembarking from planes, and then walking along a street, all in quiet, orderly fashion.
The Whole Thing is Worse Than We Thought
According to the migrants, DHS agents met the migrants as they were boarding the plane. The agents gave them false addresses of homeless shelters from all over the country—from Tacoma, Washington, to Florida—and told them to use them as their contact addresses. “According to the paperwork provided to them, the migrants are required to check in with the ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] office nearest to the fake address chosen for them by DHS, or be permanently removed from the United States,” Self said. Some are required to check in as early as Monday morning.
“It could not be clearer that this is an attempt to have these people ordered to be removed even if they try as hard as they can to comply with the instructions provided to them,” Self told a group of reporters.
“Their biggest concern today is that many of them have dates to appear in San Antonio Monday morning. Tacoma, Washington Monday morning. Washington, D.C. Monday morning,” Self said. “Their biggest concern is compliance.” Tallahassee immigration attorney Elizabeth Ricci told the Orlando Sentinel Friday that DHS and ICE had to be involved. “ICE likely conspired with the governor’s office to pull off the stunt,” Ricci said. “It couldn’t have been done without their direct involvement.”
DHS officials haven’t responded to the allegation yet
Are DeSantis’ “people” in Texas the DHS agents who allegedly helped him essentially kidnap these 48 people, including families with children?
So DeathSentence, Ab-Butt, DHS, and ICE Conspired to Make Sure They Couldn't Attend their Asylum Hearings
Gov. Ron DeSantis paid $615,000 in Florida taxpayer money to relocate almost 50 Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard as calls intensified Friday from Democrats demanding an investigation of the action.

MAGA Suckers Will Pay For This
Christopher M. Kise, formerly the solicitor general of Florida, agreed to defend Trump with an "unusually high" $3 million retainer, The New York Times reported on Friday, citing two unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
The figure — paid for by Trump's Save America PAC, according to Politico — is significant because Trump is notorious for not paying bills, according to NBC News.
The former president reportedly struggled with finding a credible defense attorney recently, a problem he'd faced before.
As Trump continues to face legal peril, his advisors and former attorneys have pointed out that the quality of his legal team has taken a turn for the worst. Outside of Kise, Trump's previous legal team includes "a Florida insurance lawyer who's never had a federal case, a past general counsel for a parking-garage company, and a former host from a propagandistic cable outlet,"

The Weak Russian Is Not a New Cocktail ... Yet
The Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Russian forces are “likely too weak” to stop the continuing advance of Ukrainian troops along the entire Oskil river in the eastern Kharkiv region.
Britain’s military intelligence reported Russian troops established a new defensive line between the Oskil river and the town of Svatove, a zone that includes a strategic supply route.
Ukraine’s prime minister thanked the United States for sending a further $1.5bn in international financial aid.
A third UN ship left Ukraine bound for Ethiopia with 30,000 tonnes of much-needed wheat on board.

Ted Cruz is A Target-Rich Environment for a Heckler
A Beto O’Rourke supporter on a flight with Ted Cruz on Thursday heckled the Republican senator over an array of issues, including his response to the horrific school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
“We’re in Houston? Oh, I thought we were going to Cancun,” the passenger quipped after he noticed Cruz standing in the aisle. He was referring to the senator’s ignominious trip to the sun last year while his constituents grappled with freezing weather and power outages.
The man then sarcastically thanked Cruz for “everything you’ve done since Uvalde.”

They Will Need to Bribe Some More Politicians and Judges
A US court has revoked air pollution permits for a huge plastics plant in a region of Louisiana known as Cancer Alley and ruled that they would have violated environmental rules.
People living near the proposed petrochemical complex in St James parish have been fighting against the plans for years and hailed the decision as a victory for environmental justice.
The permits had been issued by the Louisiana department of environmental quality to FG LA, a member of the Taiwanese conglomerate Formosa Plastics Group.
FG LA’s proposed $9.4bn “Sunshine Project” is being designed to produce polyethylene, polypropylene, polymer and ethylene glycol which are used in a range of everyday products. If built, it would be one of the largest production facilities for plastics and plastic feedstocks in the world.
It would also roughly double toxic emissions in its local area and, according to environmentalists, release up to 13m tonnes of greenhouse gases a year to become one of the largest single sources of carbon emissions in the US.
The site on which it is planned is in the heart of Cancer Alley, an area along the Mississippi River which already accounts for about a quarter of petrochemical production in the US and has some of the worst air quality.
The Netflix series "Dirty Money" has a terrific expose of Formosa Plastics called "Point Comfort".

It's Not Like a T-Shirt. You Can Wear a T-Shirt
Cryptocurrency creators are on the lookout for viral moments to make a quick buck.
They found it when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, creating a Will Smith digital currency. And again, when the Netflix show “Squid Game” gained global fame, minting the Squid Game coin.
Now it’s Queen Elizabeth’s turn.
In the days following the queen’s passing, more than 40 types of meme coins were minted, industry data and media reports show. These virtual forms of currency are often created by anonymous people with access to coin-creating websites — and an idea for a clever name. And they are notorious for wild swings in value.
That includes Queen Elizabeth Inu coin, which broadly honors her death and is built and available on various cryptocurrency platforms. The coin is currently priced around $.000003, after a nearly 30,000 percent surge and drop from where it started. There’s also Long Live the Queen, a coin that lost steam within hours of minting.
Experts said most of these coins are typically a joke or a scam rather than legitimate forms of payment — or even akin to gambling in the new decentralized world of the internet, known as web3.
“It’s no different from people selling T-shirts outside of Buckingham Palace,” David Hsiao, the chief executive of the crypto magazine Block Journal, said. “This is just the web3 version.”

FBI Counter-Intelligence Head Involved With Russian Oligarch. What Could Go Wrong?
Charles McGonigal, former counterintelligence head in the New York City office of the FBI, is now being investigated for his own ties to Oleg Deripaska, one of Putin’s favorite industrialists. This story has many, many ramifications.
First a bit of background: back in 2019 Deripaska made a deal with Addison (his real name) McConnell to lift sanctions in exchange for building an aluminum mill in Kentucky. At the time skeptics figured this boost to McConnell’s fortunes would last until a few months after the 2020 election, and indeed in early 2021 financing for the mill “unexpectedly” fell through. Imagine that.
Second, the NYC office of the FBI was notably lax in investigating trump’s many cons and ties to Russia. Later Michael Sussman, who brought news of questionable ties between a Russian bank and the trump campaign, was himself persecuted by William Barr’s hatchet man, John Durham — whose work went nowhere. Now we might understand why the New York office took it easy: the chief investigator could himself have been in the tank for trump’s handlers.
Third, we also know the New York FBI office hated Hillary Clinton. We know they leaked an ongoing investigation into Anthony Weiner’s laptop to Rudy Giuliani, we know they leaked to Devin Nunes, and we know they were aware the leaks could affect the election. One might speculate the hatred could have been ginned up by a rogue agent in the office, perhaps someone beholden to a foreign power which saw an advantage in having their creature in the White House.
In other words, with today’s news it is entirely possible that senior FBI agent Charles McGonigal, in a breathtaking act of treachery which makes Robert Hanssen’s twenty years of spying for the KGB look like small potatoes, knowingly helped Russia elect donald trump.
