My recent reference to "Disco Duck" on the hoops board reminded me of terrible songs from the past.
As an old guy here are a few of the worst in my memory.
The Bird is the Word by The Trashmen.
Ya-Ya by Lee Dorsey

I nominate "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill. I met Dan a few times via an old college buddy, and when he was beginning to break big I attended his coming out show at the Roxy. He was a real nice guy, but I want to puke every time I hear that song. I think a lot of people feel the same way. |

I know this will be heretical to say this because he's also created an enormous number of top notch pop songs, but I'll have to say this (channelling Larry David): Paul McCartney has turned out some of the most atrocious pop songs anyone has ever written. I mean, crap that one would be embarrassed to have their name associated with: - Ebony & Ivory? - That god awful "wonderful christmas time" song?
Here's someone who agrees with me
PS: I kinda like "Bird is the word" for its absurdity. The tune is actually cool. It's a bass groove with words attached. Definitely a fun novelty piece.
Ya Ya Live wasn't great but it was ok.

You'll get no push back from me on that. The song is decent up to the Na na na na part and then becomes torturous.
