There's Class of 2023 Jimmy Oladokun of Damien, who I've mentioned before. I didn't know he had a 4.5 GPA.
He was overshadowed on last year's Damien team with Malik Thomas, now a FR at USC, and DJ Smith, who's a top recruit for Portland, Pepperdine, and others (Pac-12 should be looking at him). But over the course of the season, the 6-8 Oladokun (who probably has a 7-3 wingspan) showed increased range and a pretty good handle and is a beast inside despite likely not quite weighing more than 200. The head coach at Damien is Mike LeDuc, who coached for a very long time at Glendora High School (Tracy Murray and Casey Jacobsen played for him) and the guys who play for him tend to get much better, especially as perimeter players and as shooters.
I sure hope Cronin is aware of his existence and we know that if he has a 4.5 GPA and if he could work with Thomas sometimes going 10-30 from the field, he can probably fit in very well at UCLA.
I agree with Frank on Price and will throw Ochoa into the mix: There are a lot of teams in the Pac-12 that would get better by signing them.
Tyrone Riley, Jr, mentioned in the article, is the son of Tyrone Riley, who was a 6-7 PF at LA Jordan who attended LACC and then started for USF (what is now called San Francisco). I remember giving him a ride home after a game at LACC and it turned out he lived in one of the scariest projects in South Central, Imperial Courts, during a serious war between the Bloods and the Crips. There were little kids hidden in trash cans on street corners who would pop out with Uzis. I was safe with Tyrone in the car. I was likely safe anyway, since I wasn't wearing colors.
Sounds like TJ Riley is going to a fancy private school. Maybe Tyrone made money overseas? He was huge, 6-7 245.
