Just a quick recount of current UCLA offers for 2022 (rankings are from Rivals, just arbitrary choice):
#8 6-8 Mark Mitchell, Sunrise Christian Academy (Kansas) (we are in his final 4 and he's said he won't make up his mind until late November to mid-December) #12 6-9 Sadraque Nganga, Compass Prep (Arizona) (same school Dylan Andrews will be attending) #14 6-11 Derrick Lively, Westtown School (Pennsylvania) (I don't think anyone thinks UCLA has a chance) #21 6-8 Julian Phillips, Blythewood High School (South Carolina) #27 6-10 Adem Bona, Prolific Prep (California) #29 7-0 Vincent Uwuchukwu, Montverde Academy (Florida) (sounds like we are in his final 4) #64 6-11 Yohan Traore, Prolific Prep (California) #115 6-10 Ernest Udeh, Dr. Philips (Florida) (I think this is a prep school, but I can't tell)
Does anyone besides me get the feeling that despite having Johnson, Etienne and Nwuba all coming back in 2022 that Mick Cronin really wants to get a big man?
FWIW, Rivals ranks Amari Bailey #3 and Dylan Andrews #43.
They've also added to the top 150 for the first time #137 6-9 Jeremiah Nyarko of St. John Bosco. If UCLA misses on Mitchell and Phillips, I won't be surprised to see Nyarko get an offer. Another possibility in that event would be Peyton Watson's little bro, Christian Watson, 6-5 in March, but these Watsons tend to grow.
Amari Bailey still insists he's recruiting his teammate 6-7 Shy Odom for UCLA, but UCLA hasn't offered the shy guy a scholarship.
