basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/seven-footer-jazz-gardner-standing-tall-with-plenty-of-offersSo, 2023 6-11 Jazz Gardner of Hacienda Heights Los Altos will be visiting UCLA in August (unofficial), but he talks a lot about UCLA... and mostly local schools, which is a good sign. Gardner, when last measured, weighed in at 260, but has been slimming down, getting more agile and faster, with better conditioning and expanding his skill-set. Because of his size and game, there will no doubt be a lot of talk about the G League Ignite and the OTE pursuing him at some point, but at this point that's all talk. Right now, he's definitely the top "F" prospect in the 2023 class in California now that Jalen Lewis has signed OTE. On another note, USC losing Jason Hart to the G League Ignite has to hurt a lot. The Trojans. The Bruins are feeling no pain. Hopefully JH II will be an assistant in the NBA soon enough.

A little birdy told me UCLA is in really good position with Jazz Gardner, definitely the favorite, but it's a long race and a lot can change over the next 2 years.
? FWIW.

Me: "Why does Jelani Gardner wants his son to go to UCLA so badly?"
Little Birdy: "He does. His son wants to go there. You want another reason? Because that was always his dream school."
Me: "Why didn't Jelani Gardner go to UCLA if that was his dream school?"
Little Birdy: "His parents needed the money! He doesn't."
Too true. Todd Bozeman and all that jazz.
Jelani Gardner transferred from Cal to Pepperdine.
Jazz Gardner is taking an unofficial visit to Pepperdine as well as UCLA in August. Considering that Kessler Edwards is in the NBA Draft and Johnny Juzang isn't, maybe Jazz should go to Pepperdine.
Ken Bone might not have worked out as a head coach at WSU, but he can coach big men. No doubt about that.
And Curtis Allen and Gerald Brown know how to teach guards and skills.
And Lo Romar has a pretty good track record as a head coach and before that as an assistant at UCLA on a NC team...
If you're 6-11 and you want to be an F or a G, go to a school where they can teach you to be the best that you can be.
Jelani had a bad kidney. He played professionally in Europe for 7 years before he got a kidney transplant from, I think, his Mom. He continued to play professionally in Europe until about 3 years ago.
Here's a bonus trivia question and mh will send you 50% of his stock in Boeing if you get the right answer: What other big man from Hacienda Heights Los Altos broke Bruin hearts many years ago when he chose an ACC team instead?
