Kijani Wright is definitely 100%.
Fully-recovered from Covid-19, he played in Alabama last week.
He also decided to transfer from Windward School to Sierra Canyon.
Neither school is in Alabama.
Next year:
Dylan Metoyer, 6-1 JR
Amari Bailey, 6-4 SR (UCLA and, yes, he will be there because he's a man, Dr. Bruin, and his mother no longer commits him as he said on KDOC)
Ramel Lloyd, Jr., 6-6 SR (don't you dare call me "RJ") (I call USC)
Shy Odom, 6-7 SR (I call USC)
Kijani Wright, 6-9 SR (I call USC; damn, USC is going to have a great recruiting class next year just like... "just UCLA")
Justin Pippen, 6-2 SO PG (call me Justin, don't call me "SJ")
Bronny James, 6-5 JR (don't you dare call me "LJ" in front of my father when he's hanging with Drake; that puts too much pressure on me... so says my nuclear dad)
Josiah Phillips, 6-6 JR (I'm better than two of the starters, at least; what up, Coach Andre?)
Alpha Chibambe, 6-7 SR (don't I get to start? I'm transferring back to Woodland Hills Taft!)
Tim Rudovksii, 6-8 JR (I hope GM Andre Chevalier don't run me offskii)
Malik Rasul, 6-8 SO (you threw me out to the wolves and we won; you gave me vicious pine and we lost; are you throwing me under a bus, boss, Andrew I forgot your last name? I might just play somewhere else starting in October)
Evan Manjikian, 6-8 SR (don't look at me, I actually live here)
Heights projected for next year, based on observation and communication, not based on last year's roster.
Roster turnover might accelerate over the next two months.
Interesting implications for the State Playoffs:
Jalen Lewis of Oakland Bishop O'Dowd has already turned pro.
Officially.
So the real State playoffs will be played in both the Open Division of the Southern Section Playoffs and then in the Open Division of the State Southern Section Playoffs and not in the Open Division State Championship game:
A rematch between SC and CC.
Don't you dare bet against the Inland Empire.
Corona Centennial will have 4 JRs and a SR in its starting lineup next year (they all started last year). And some old friends (Jeremiah Whitmore, Ramsey Huff and more!) and new friends off the bench.
Egos left at the door and not a reality TV show inside the gym, especially in the stands.
I'll call it: CC 92, SC 90 in Double OT but only because Amari Bailey scores 45... then gets cramps, tweaks an ankle, and then dies... and then comes back from the dead and scores 20 more... but his team ultimately loses.
Scoreboard, baby.
That's all that counts.
For Dick Vitale.
Wow.
Amari Bailey, there used to be this little old man from Indiana who coached at UCLA.
Sometimes, his teams won. Sometimes, they lost.
This was his definition of competitive greatness:
“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”
Win or lose the final score of a single game doesn't define you.
You can be a winner on and off the floor.
Just by being who you are.
You are someone who practices a lot harder after practice than anyone else... except for the Shy guy.
And the entire roster of Corona Centennial.
Huskies don't sit around and wait to be fed.
They hunt.
