These are from test papers and essays submitted to science and health teachers by junior high, high school, and college students around the world.

Guess Who's COming to the Ballot Box
Who are the Early Early Voters?
Bottom line: Aside from a few people who may need to cast an early, early vote due to travel or other situation, the earliest of early voters tend to be high-information political junkies who made up their minds a long time ago.

One Pundit Tells You to Ignore the Other Pundits
The 2024 Presidential Race Is Not A Toss-Up ...
... Kamala Harris has the advantage.
There’s a recurrent refrain among political pundits these days that the 2024 presidential race is a toss-up.
I disagree. Here are a few reasons why.
1) Kamala Harris is a better candidate.
She is disciplined, capable of executing her political strategy, and well-liked by the electorate. Donald Trump is none of these things.
Take, for example, her favorability ratings...
2) Donald Trump is running a lousy campaign, and people don’t like him.
Trump’s favorabilities are not awful … but notice the trend line. These are the favorability ratings of a high floor, low ceiling candidate.
But Wait! There's More!
Vice President Kamala Harris raised more than triple the amount of funds that former President Donald Trump did in August, giving her team a massive financial advantage as the presidential race enters its final weeks, according to the latest disclosures filed with the Federal Election Commission.
The Harris campaign and the Democratic National Committee entered the final two full months of the 2024 election cycle with $286 million in the bank, compared to the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee's $214 million, according to the filings.
This comes after the Harris campaign and the DNC raised $257 million in the month of August, while the Trump campaign and the RNC raised $85 million the same month, filings show.
You Want More>
Voter registration is breaking records as Election Day approaches, particularly among young people, including many first-time voters.
On Tuesday's National Voter Registration Day more than 150,000 people registered through Vote.org, the most the organization has ever seen on that day. The organization registered 279,400 voters in all of last year.
Plus
Polling averages show a small but consistent Harris lead in swing states. (Yes, I know. "Margin of error." But when you combine the samples in multiple polls the margin of error goes down.)
Higher Democratic voter enthusiams.
Bigger Harris ground game and GOTV.
There is no James Comey waiting in the wings.

Or Just Listen to This GuyThe polls are tight! A polling error like in 2016 could doom Kamala Harris! That’s the message of pretty much the entire mainstream media and all of the polling experts. But there’s a dirty little secret that they aren’t telling you and hopefully after I share it with you, you’ll be able to breathe a little easier. You should still be doing the work. You need to continue to donate your time, talent and/or treasure. But maybe you’ll be able to just breathe a little easier. I want to first share with you the final 2016 PA forecast from 538. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/…Why that looks a little more D friendly than the current PA forecast from 538! projects.fivethirtyeight.com/... I’m here to tell you it’s not. Clinton’s vote share from the last 10 PA polls was 46.7. Her final PA vote share was 47.6. That’s pretty close. The problem for Clinton was that trump basically took almost all of the undecideds. Well couldn’t he do that again this year? I guess, but even if he took EVERY undecided, I’m still not sure he’d be able to catch Harris. Why? Because if you take the last nine polls (I’m excluding the shit poll from Redfield Wilson, you should too, but that’s an entirely different diary), Kamala Harris is at 49.11%. Understand what’s going on friends. She’s winning. She’s going to win big. The media wants to keep this a horserace and pretend that this is 2016. It is not. Remember, since Dobbs Democrats across the board have OVERPERFORMED and the GOP and trump (yes, look at his primary performances) have UNDERPERFORMED.

None of the Mark Robinson News Should Be a Surprise, If Anyone Had Been Paying Attention. We Already Knew ...
self-styled “black Nazi” Mark Robinson seems nice
ignorant and hateful and proud of it
he’s ignorant and hateful and proud of it. here are just a few of the lovely views Marky Rob has espoused:
— that transgender women should be arrested for using women’s bathrooms. if they need to relieve themselves, they should “find a corner outside somewhere,” to use his exact words. — that political assassinations are necessary. again, to use his own words, “some folks need killing.” — that stories about the Holocaust — once again, to use his own words — are hogwash. — that Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby got railroaded by the woke mob. — that Michelle Obama is a man. — that women should not have the right to vote.
basically there is not one issue where Mark hasn’t planted his flag on the most extreme MAGAfied side of it.

There is Nothing Judicial About This Body
Man, The Senate Judiciary Committee Is BrokenWhen Maya Berry was called in as an expert to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, she thought she’d be sharing new data on hate crimes against Arab Americans and Jewish Americans since the Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel. Instead, Berry, the executive director of the Arab American Institute, a national nonpartisan civil rights advocacy organization, was subjected to some of the most offensive and bigoted attacks by Republican senators the committee has seen in recent years. Her experience is part of a bigger, years-long problem with this committee, a purportedly storied body responsible for major legislation and lifetime appointments to federal courts, including the Supreme Court: Some of its GOP members have ditched basic decorum and opted for disgusting attacks on the people coming before the panel. And as Republicans berated Berry, Democrats on the panel did little to back up a witness they had called to testify. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) cut off Berry the moment she started engaging with him. As he pressed panelists to answer foreign policy questions about Israel, Berry tried to pivot back to the topic of the hearing: stemming hate crimes. Graham started yelling at her. “If you think it’s complicated to figure out that Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran wants to kill all the Jews, I should not listen to anything else you have to say!” he shouted over her as she repeatedly tried to speak. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) brought posters with photos from pro-Palestinian campus protests and asked Berry if each image counted as a hate crime, which is, by definition, a criminal act. As Berry tried to steer the conversation away from free speech on campuses and back to actual hate crimes, Hawley began shouting over her: “What you’re trying to do here today is wrong!” And in an exchange that went viral and drew the most attention to this hearing, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) used all of his allotted time to baselessly accuse Berry of supporting terrorist groups, pressing her on whether she endorses Hamas and Hezbollah. As she repeatedly said she did not and called out his blatant Islamophobia, Kennedy drew audible gasps in the crowd by finally telling her she should go “hide her head in a bag.” Kennedy’s treatment of Berry drew widespread condemnation from Arab American groups, Jewish groups and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Huge News! The House Got Something Done!
A group of House members from both parties succeeded Thursday in deploying a rarely executed method to bypass GOP leadership and force a vote on a bill to expand access to Social Security benefits.
Why it matters: It's the second time this year that a bipartisan group of lawmakers has sidestepped House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) with the tool, called a discharge petition.
In May, a discharge petition led by Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) attained the necessary 218 signatures to force a House vote on legislation providing tax relief to victims of natural disasters.
The last time a discharge petition succeeded before this year was in 2015 — nearly a decade ago. State of play: The discharge petition, led by Reps. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) and Garret Graves (R-La.), would force a vote on the Social Security Fairness Act.
The relatively non-controversial bill would close loopholes that deny Social Security payments to retirees who receive certain government pensions or other types of retirement benefits.
It hit 218 signatures Thursday afternoon after Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-N.Y.) signed on.
In total, 47 Republicans and 171 Democrats backed it.
What they're saying: "It represents in this Congress the fact that, below the surface, there's always been this bipartisan majority ... that will push when things aren't getting done," said Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio).

Home on the Range, in the City, in the Small Town, Etc...
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Tina Smith have just released a BRILLIANT housing plan called the Homes Act of 2024. I just received this below in my mailbox. Please. Please please please go sign their petition to get Congress to support it. If you want the Kamala Harris housing plan to work, we need to get this done.
As Justice Democrats Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Tina Smith explain in their latest New York Times essay, “The result is a housing market where corporate landlords make record profits while half of America’s 44 million renters struggle to pay rent. For a generation of young people, the idea of home has become loaded with anxiety; too many know they can’t find an affordable, stable place to rent, let alone buy.”
To finally combat this, AOC and Tina just unveiled a historic new bill for social housing called the Homes Act, which would establish a new, federally backed development authority to finance and build homes in big cities and small towns across America using union labor.
It would then turn the management of those residences over to entities that agree to manage them for permanent affordability, such as public and tribal housing authorities, cooperatives, tenant unions, community land trusts, nonprofits, and local governments. Under this plan:
Rent would be capped at 25% of a household’s adjusted gross income;
Homes would be built and set aside for lower-income families in mixed-income buildings and communities;
Every home would be built to modern and efficient standards to ensure health and safety while cutting utility costs for residents.
This is the bold solution we need to address one of the biggest problems facing working people across our country, but it’s going to require strong public pressure to push Congress to support it.
Why is this smart? The key is that they recognize that our current housing construction system is broken. The home construction companies just aren’t capable or interested in building fast enough, affordably enough, or ethically enough to solve the country’s problems. It’s not even always their fault. Our modern global economy makes the financing of these projects so unstable that they’re forced to essentially shut down construction every few years until interest rates cool or the economy picks up. There’s such a small sweet spot for home construction in America that we need a new solution.
