Looking back as to government efficiency, or lack thereof, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, thousands of lives, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.
Travel Advisory: It's Not From the State Department
Planned Parenthood officials in Tennessee issued a severe warning for pregnant people not to travel to the state.
The warning came one year after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down federal abortion rights. Tennessee passed a near-total abortion ban, with scant exceptions for ectopic and molar pregnancies. An abortion can also be performed to save the mother's life in some cases.
Ashley Coffield, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and Northern Mississippi, told the Tennessee Lookout that Tennessee is now 'more dangerous and more deadly' for pregnant people.
"One year ago, Tennessee faced an instant health emergency for pregnant people when we became a forced birth state," Coffield said. "It is more dangerous and more deadly to be pregnant in Tennessee... If you're pregnant, you shouldn't travel here. If you live here, you might have to travel out of state for life-saving care."

Your Thoughless Neighbor is a Health Threat
Dog poo is linked to illness, pollution and antibiotic resistance
Dog faeces may contain microorganisms that cause illness in humans such as Salmonella, E. coli, Giardia and internal parasites.
Dog poo can also be a potential reservoir for antibiotic-resistant bacteria, meaning humans could develop bacterial infections that are difficult to treat through contact with dog faeces.
A recent Sydney study also identified dog faeces washed into storm water as a significant contributor to water pollution.

Will He Send the Army to Pick Up Dog Poop?
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday released the first formal policy of his presidential campaign, a slew of immigration-related proposals his team labeled “No Excuses”— a reference to what it sees as a failure by former President Donald Trump to deliver on his promises.
The rollout comes as DeSantis leans into immigration as a way to hit Trump from the right — while simultaneously criticizing President Joe Biden’s policies. On Sunday night, DeSantis also toured the Texas border, where he has authorized that 1,100 members of Florida law enforcement and National Guard be sent.
DeSantis, who’s trailing Trump in national polls by wide margins, is promising to send Navy and Coast Guard resources to block fentanyl-related Chinese precursor chemicals from reaching Mexican ports, "if the Mexican government drags its feet" in assisting. The U.S. has never taken this action before.
Will Mexico Pay For It?

A Yevgeny For His Thoughts
The mercenary chief whose rebels seized a Russian city and marched toward Moscow over the weekend says he acted to protect his fighters and not to topple Vladimir Putin, according to a recording released on Monday.
"This unit was supposed to have ended its existence on July 1, 2023," Wagner Group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a nearly 12-minute audio recording on his press office's channel on Telegram, referring to the date by when the Russian defense ministry said all volunteer and mercenary forces had to sign up with the military.
It was the first time that Prigozhin, who did not disclose his location or when he recorded the message, has spoken since he abruptly ended his revolt on Saturday.
"Experienced fighters, experienced commanders will be simply 'smeared' and will basically be used as meat," he said, using Russian slang for "destroyed," adding: "We did not have the goal of toppling the existing regime and legitimately-elected government."

SCOTUS Avoids Another Black Mark on their Record
The Supreme Court on Monday lifted its hold on a Louisiana case that could force the state to redraw congressional districts to boost Black voting power.
The order follows the court's rejection earlier in June of a congressional redistricting map in Alabama and unfreezes the Louisiana case, which had been on hold pending the decision in Alabama.
In both states, Black voters are a majority in just one congressional district. Lower courts had ruled that the maps raised concerns that Black voting power had been diluted, in violation of the landmark federal Voting Rights Act.
The justices put the Louisiana case on hold and allowed the state's challenged map to be used in last year's elections after they agreed to hear the Alabama case.
The case had separately been appealed to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. The justices said that appeal now could go forward in advance of next year's congressional elections.
Did the Previous Map Give Blacks 3/5ths of a District?

Does Misery Love Company? Do Republicans Love Misery?
If Misery Loves Company, Mexico Can Provide It.
Students collapse, water shortages, misery, and a mass mortality event all plague Mexico.
Where the fuck is the media? Most of them are completely useless for today's challenges.
Northern Mexico will endure temperatures up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit as a relentless heat dome provides no relief from deadly temperatures that have baked the Mexican people for weeks, and they have no choice but to suffer.
Of course, the national media is asleep at the wheel as always and fail to discuss the issue of a rapidly heating planet and the death spiral of the climate system we have known for 11,000 years. What is happening to the earth should be an International priority daily. Kind of like Donald Trump is but more critical for survival.
When news on the heat dome does grab the media's attention, it stops at the Texas border as if suffering brought about by the climate crisis recognizes international borders.
Experts report that the heat dome will expand into Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Louisiana. Millions will join Texans and Mexicans in a brutal assault on the ability to survive without air conditioning. But it is not just North America that suffers. Central America and the Caribbean also are dealing with record-smashing temperatures.

Russia Attacks Irrelevant Civilian Targets, While Klueless Kevin Gets Into the Issues That Are Irrelevant to the Lives of Americans. How Dumb Are These People?
Republicans in the House of Representatives could impeach Attorney General Merrick Garland over an allegation that the Justice Department stifled criminal charges against Hunter Biden.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Sunday the allegation would be “a significant part” of an impeachment inquiry if an IRS whistleblower’s claims pan out.

T-Cells: Danger HuntersThe next big advance in cancer treatment could be a vaccine. After decades of limited success, scientists say research has reached a turning point, with many predicting more vaccines will be out in five years. These aren't traditional vaccines that prevent disease, but shots to shrink tumors and stop cancer from coming back. Targets for these experimental treatments include breast and lung cancer, with gains reported this year for deadly skin cancer melanoma and pancreatic cancer. "We're getting something to work. Now we need to get it to work better," said Dr. James Gulley, who helps lead a center at the National Cancer Institute that develops immune therapies, including cancer treatment vaccines. More than ever, scientists understand how cancer hides from the body's immune system. Cancer vaccines, like other immunotherapies, boost the immune system to find and kill cancer cells. And some new ones use mRNA, which was developed for cancer but first used for COVID-19 vaccines. For a vaccine to work, it needs to teach the immune system's T cells to recognize cancer as dangerous, said Dr. Nora Disis of UW Medicine's Cancer Vaccine Institute in Seattle. Once trained, T cells can travel anywhere in the body to hunt down danger. The next big advance in cancer treatment could be a vaccine

What's in a Name? If It Is Previous Guy's Name, A Lot.
Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer is canceling his annual golf charity event at the Blue Monster at Trump National in Doral, Florida, next month, he announced on his Instagram on Saturday. Poyer cited that the event had to be rescheduled until next year because teams and sponsors pulled out of the event due to its location.
He initially shared his excitement for the tournament, being held at one of his favorite courses, before explaining why he had to cancel it.
“Unfortunately, there have been a numerous amount of teams up north that have pulled out of the tournament. Not just out of the tournament but also wrote e-mails to a big sponsor that was going to help sponsor my tournament," Poyer said on Instagram. "And that company now, it’s unfortunate that they have pulled out and decided that they don’t want to take part in my tournament, in which they took part in last year, because of where it’s at, the Trump National in Doral."

Roads Don't Kill People. People Do.The United States has the most traffic deaths per capita of any developed country. In 2020, the coronavirus reduced road deaths worldwide because people were forced to stay home. But the U.S. bucked that trend and saw rising traffic deaths, which spiked to a 16-year high in 2021 before a modest decrease in 2022. “We face a crisis here in America,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told Yahoo News last month, pointing out that the number of people who died on the roads each year (42,795 in 2022) is comparable to the number killed by guns (48,830 in 2021). “It should not be this way,” she added. Read more: These 5 states alone accounted for almost 40% of US traffic deaths in 2022 — is yours one of them? As with gun violence, the United States stands apart from peer nations in Europe and East Asia. Americans drive more, which leads to more crashes, on roads that facilitate unsafe driving. On average, Americans drive more than twice as many miles as the French, more than three times as many as the Japanese and far more than even the residents of neighboring Canada — and have many more road deaths per capita in comparison to Germany and the U.K. Why do so many Americans keep dying in traffic accidents?

Did Vlad Use Gas? Did This Weekend Give Him Gas?
Russian forces in eastern Ukraine fired a banned suffocating chemical gas at Ukrainian troops, but it ended up being blown back towards them by the wind, a Ukrainian military official said.
Russians fired a "chemical aerosol munition with suffocating effect on one of the positions," Valeriy Shershen, a spokesperson for the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Force, said, according to Ukrinform's translation. But then "the wind blew in the enemy's direction."
Shershen made the comments on Ukrainian TV, according to Ukrinform, with his comments picked up by other Ukrainian media, including by the Kyiv Post, The New Voice of Ukraine, Pravda, and state broadcaster Suspilne.
Suspilne and Pravda reported that Shershen claimed the chemical was a prohibited one.
Shershen did not identify the gas, nor say if any Ukrainian or Russian troops were affected.

Term Limits Seems Like a Good Idea, But It Might Require a Constituional Amendment
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in an interview Sunday that she believes that Supreme Court justices should be subject to term limits as well as ethics regulations.
The former House speaker spoke with Jen Psaki for a segment of MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” about the court’s credibility being called into question in light of recent news stories about Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito receiving lavish gifts or going on luxury trips sponsored by GOP figures.
The former White House press secretary pointed out that a recent Quinnipiac University poll found that just 30% of American voters approve of the court. The number is notable given that it’s the lowest since the polls began in 2004.

Is She Running For Wack Job of the Year?
The far-right US congresswoman Majorie Taylor Greene appeared to say she thinks she is being spied on through her television, possibly by the US government, and that someone may soon try to kill her.
In a tweet on Sunday, the Republican from Georgia said: “Last night in my DC residence, the television turned on by itself and the screen showed someone’s laptop trying to connect to the TV.”

The Weight Loss Industry is $72 Billion. Time to Sell Your Jenny Craig Stock?
What if treating obesity could be as easy as popping an effective pill?
That's a notion that has long fueled hope for many of the more than 40% of Americans who are considered obese — and fueled criticism from those who advocate for wider weight acceptance. Soon, the pill may be a reality.
High-dose oral versions of the medication in the weight-loss drug Wegovy may work as well as the popular injections when it comes to paring pounds and improving health, according to final results of two studies released Sunday night. The potent tablets also appear to work for people with diabetes, who notoriously struggle to lose weight.
Drugmaker Novo Nordisk plans to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to approve the pills later this year.
If Something Serious Happens, At Least You Will Look Good As You Are Wheeled Into the Emergency Room
What Are Side Effects of Wegovy?
Wegovy may cause serious side effects including:
hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, seeing halos around lights, fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, shortness of breath, sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff or rigid muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, and tremors
Get medical help right away, if you have any of the symptoms listed above.
Side effects of Wegovy include:
nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, indigestion/heartburn, dizziness, bloating (abdominal distension), belching, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in patients with type 2 diabetes, gas (flatulence), gastroenteritis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights; Serious heart symptoms such as fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in your chest; shortness of breath; and sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out; Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors.

Gov Ab-Butt Brooks No Wokeness
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott took his Twitter feed to some low places over the weekend when he was duped by a satire website as he shared literal fake news about country music icon Garth Brooks.
Abbott linked to a story about Brooks from a satire website called The Dunning-Kruger Times. If the name alone isn’t a giveaway, the site states outright that it’s part of “a network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery,” and adds: “If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”
The story Abbott shared says Brooks was booed off the stage at the 123rd Annual Texas Country Jamboree in Hambriston, Texas.
But the jamboree isn’t a real event, and Hambriston isn’t a real place ― details that apparently raised no red flags with the state’s governor as he tweeted the story.
“Go woke. Go broke,” he tweeted. “Good job, Texas.”
Texas, for the record, loves Brooks as much as anywhere else: He sold out the 72,000-seat NRG Stadium in Houston and 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington when his tour hit the Lone Star State last year.
Does Ab-Butt Have Friends in Low Places?
