Police have arrested the World tongue-twister Champion. I imagine he'll be given a tough sentence.
How Much Do I Have to Pay Never to Hear About Either of These Again?
Tensions finally boiled over between Congresswomen Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene on the House floor Wednesday, when Greene called Boebert “A little b****”.
The two had been feuding over competing resolutions to impeach Biden, after Boebert leveraged a procedural tool to force a vote on her own impeachment resolution within days, undercutting Greene, who had offered her own resolution, but not with the procedural advantages of forcing a vote. ......................

These Are the Same Clowns Who Voted to Censure Adam Schiff
Rank and file Republican House members are losing patience with the party's leadership for allowing committee chairs to keep launching politically-motivated investigations into Democrats that go nowhere, and floor impeachment proposals on the House floor.
That is the opinion of Brendan Buck, the former top advisor to ex-House Speaker Paul Ryan during an appearance on MSNBC's "Way Too Early" on Thursday morning when discussing Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert's desire to impeach President Joe Biden.
I Am Losing Patience With Idiotic Takes Like This

The Mistake By the Lake Has Moved to Flori-Dumb
Failed 2022 Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has denied she is angling for the vice presidential slot on former President Donald Trump's 2024 ticket. But according to Jezebel, that may indeed be her plan — and she has practically moved into Mar-a-Lago full time in the process.
"While Lake has repeatedly denied rumors she wants to be Trump’s running mate should he win the nomination for the 2024 election...what else would a failed conservative politician who hasn’t yet been insulted by Trump do with their time? Volunteer?" wrote Lauren Tousignant. "'I believe she wants to be his running mate,' another source told People in December. 'She is working the deal. She wants something bigger, fast, to compensate for her loss in Arizona.'"
"Lake, the former local news anchor who lost Arizona’s gubernatorial race to Democrat Katie Hobbs in November, has reportedly all but moved into Mar-A-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach — to the extent that she’s there more than Melania," said the report.
One source reportedly told People Magazine, “Kari Lake is there every night ... She’s there all the time. There’s a suite there that she practically lives in.”
This comes after Lake has spent nearly a year on a series of frivolous and ill-fated lawsuits to try to get her election loss overturned.

Thank Goodness. A Hitler Quote Without Context Might Be Considered Offensive. The Hamilton County chapter of Moms for Liberty, a national organization recently listed as an "extremist group" by a civil rights watchdog, introduced its first newsletter Wednesday, The Parent Brigade. Adolf Hitler was quoted on its front cover. Just below The Parent Brigade's masthead was a quote Hitler used at a Nazi rally in 1935: "He alone, who OWNS the youth, GAINS the future." The pages of the newsletter were posted on the group's Facebook page. Late Wednesday night, the front page of the newsletter was updated to include what is described as "context" for the Hitler quote. "The quote from a horrific leader should put parents on alert," the update says. "If the government has control over our children today, they control our country's future. We The People must be vigilant and protect children from an overreaching government." Moms for Liberty's Hamilton County chapter quotes Hitler in first newsletter

Wait Until They Find Out It Would Preempt The Price Is Right
As a date has been set for the trial of former President Donald Trump over the classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago, a new poll shows that most Americans want to watch the trial on their TVs.
A new Quinnipiac University poll asked a number of questions about the upcoming trial, which is set for August 14, including whether or not they thought cameras should be allowed in the courtroom. Overall, 64%, nearly two-thirds, say cameras should be there, while 29% say they shouldn't. An additional 7% said they had no opinion or didn't know.
While more Democrats—71%—than Republicans—57%—wanted cameras, there was no demographic where a majority didn't want them. Black people were the highest demographic who wanted the Trump documents trial televised at 77%, followed by people between the ages of 18-34 at 71%, tied with Democrats, and Hispanic people at a rate of 70%. The poll also showed that only 32% of Americans have read the indictment.

Keeping the City Safe From 10-Year-Old Girls in Pajamas
Sacramento police body camera video obtained as part of an audit of complaints against officers shows a 10-year-old girl in tears being handcuffed in her pajamas, highlighting the need for a policy on the handcuffing of minors, according to the city’s Office of Public Safety Accountability.
Police Chief Kathy Lester addressed the handcuffing of the girl, who is Black, during a Sacramento City Council meeting on Tuesday.
Sacramento police had said in a response to the audit that the situation lasted 30 seconds and the officer had “reasonable and articulable concerns for his safety, which justified the lawful detention.”
Lester said during the meeting “there is no circumstance where it’s OK to handcuff a 10-year-old, regardless of race.”
Dwight White, the inspector general with the office, said that the 10-year-old girl had been with her bedridden grandmother when the police department banged on the door.
“When she finally opened the door, they immediately handcuffed her,” he said. “They were rude and marched her to the car.”
The video showed the girl saying, “I’m a baby.”

Twitter is Already Losing $4 Million Per Day. What's Another $475,000?
Australia's internet safety watchdog on Thursday threatened to fine Twitter for failing to tackle online abuse, saying Elon Musk's takeover had coincided with a spike in "toxicity and hate".
E-safety commissioner Julie Inman Grant -- a former Twitter employee -- said the platform was now responsible for one-in-three complaints about online hate speech reported in Australia.
Inman Grant said Twitter had 28 days to show it was serious about tackling the problem or face fines of Aus $700,000 (US$475,000) for every day it missed the deadline.

Are We All In Hot Water? When a hurricane hits land, the destruction can be visible for years or even decades. Less obvious, but also powerful, is the effect hurricanes have on the oceans. A new study shows through real-time measurements that hurricanes don’t just churn water at the surface. They can also push heat deep into the ocean in ways that can lock it up for years and ultimately affect regions far from the storm. Heat is the key component of this story. It has long been known that hurricanes gain their energy from warm sea surface temperatures. This heat helps moist air near the ocean surface rise like a hot air balloon and form clouds taller than Mount Everest. This is why hurricanes generally form in tropical regions. What we discovered is that hurricanes ultimately help warm the ocean, too, by enhancing its ability to absorb and store heat. And that can have far-reaching consequences. Prolonged thermocline warming by near-inertial internal waves in the wakes of tropical cyclones

That's a Lot of India Red Ink
A man in India has allegedly managed to stay in a five-star hotel in the capital, Delhi, for close to two years without paying the bill.
Police received a complaint by managers at the Roseate House near Delhi airport after they discovered the apparent scam - 603 days into the man's stay.
He allegedly owes the hotel over 5m rupees ($70,000; £55,000).
The complaint alleges the man colluded with staff who helped hide the mounting bills. No-one has been arrested.
Though the case was reported to Delhi police on 24 May, details have only recently emerged in the local media.
The unnamed man is said to have checked into the hotel on 30 May 2019 after having booked a room for a single night, and stayed there until 22 January 2022, the Indian Express newspaper reports.
Even though he did not pay, one of the staff members allegedly kept extending his stay, the report adds.
Details of how this was done are said to include fiddling with other guests' bills - or simply swapping one for the other.
No names have been given.
"As per hotel rules, if a guest owes more than 50,000 rupees to the hotel, the staff has to inform the seniors and push the guest for payment. However, this was not done," a senior police officer told the newspaper.

One Less Bridge Over Troubled WatersUkrainian missiles have struck the Chonhar road bridge connecting Crimea with Russian-held parts of the southern Kherson region, according to Russian-appointed officials. The so-called “gate to Crimea”, known to Russians by a different spelling as the Chongar bridge, is one of a handful of links between Crimea – which Moscow annexed from Ukraine in 2014 – and mainland Ukraine. It is on a route used by the Russian military to move between Crimea and other parts of Ukraine under its control. Russian investigators said four missiles had been fired by Ukrainian forces at the bridge, the RIA news agency reported. It quoted a spokesman for military investigators as saying that markings found on the remains of one of the missiles suggested it had been made in France. If the World Was Ending Would You Start Shooting People?
The man accused of fatally shooting two people and wounding several others at a Washington music festival Saturday told police he was high on psychedelic mushrooms and believed the world was ending, according to court documents.
What Do You Expect from a QB Who Went to Cal-Berkley?
An eclectic crowd of thousands — podcasters, vendors, startups, seekers — swarmed a psychedelics conference in Denver this week to experience everything from a dimly lit hall packed with kaleidoscope art and a wide-ranging lineup of speakers from a former Republican governor to NFL star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The conference, put on by a psychedelic advocacy group, took place months after Colorado’s voters decided to join Oregon in decriminalizing psychedelic mushrooms. While it’s a sign of growing cultural acceptance for substances that proponents say may offer benefits for things like post-traumatic stress disorder and alcoholism, medical experts caution that more research is needed on the drugs’ efficacy and the extent of the risks of psychedelics, which can cause hallucinations.
Rodgers, who’ll soon debut with the New York Jets after years with the Green Bay Packers, spoke Wednesday night with podcaster Aubrey Marcus. Rodgers described taking ayahuasca with his teammates as “radically life-changing,” and claimed many other pro athletes have reached out to him.

What is Urkaine Up To? It's the Artillery, Stupid.
There’s much fretting about Ukraine’s pace in its counteroffensive, having liberated only a handful of small settlements despite two weeks of heavy fighting.
One of the reasons is certainly Russia’s bizarre decision to counterattack all of Ukraine’s gains, fighting in the open instead of hunkering down in its extensive network of prepared defensive emplacements.
But there is something going on that gives even better insight into Ukraine’s patience, and it’s reflected every day in Ukraine’s claims of Russian kills.
Early in the war, Ukraine would claim one to two daily artillery kills. It was frustrating, seeing Ukrainian defenders and its cities under relentless artillery bombardment, yet unable to strike back at the guns and rocket launchers causing that misery.
Over time, Ukraine developed better counter-battery fire: the ability to find Russian artillery and destroy it. Specialized counter-battery radars provided by its Western partners helped locate the guns; drones pin-pointed their position; and longer-ranged Western artillery, precision-guided artillery shells, HIMARS, and M270 rocket launchers finally became a deadly response. More recently, kamikaze drones have become another tool.
Remember, Russia’s is an artillery-based army. Without it, it has no offensive or defensive juice. A wall of explosive steel is the biggest impediment to any rapid Ukrainian gains. And Russia has lots and lots of guns. It has even pulled up old 1950s vintage tanks and is using them as artillery. It knows no other way to fight.
Until three or so weeks ago, the average number of claimed artillery kills averaged 10.5 per day. But as the Ukrainian counteroffensive ramped up in June, we saw something new altogether. Here’s the number of claimed artillery kills by Ukraine over the last two weeks:
June 6: 25 June 7: 22 June 8: 29 June 9: 38 June 10: 16 June 11: 20 June 12: 10 June 13: 20 June 14: 19 June 15: 11 June 16: 21 June 17: 25 June 18: 14 June 19: 18 June 20: 27 June 21: 33 June 22: 23
Ukraine claims it has destroyed 617 MLRS rocket artillery launchers since the start of the war. Russia reportedly had 900. Ukraine claims it has destroyed 3,941 tube artillery. Russia reportedly had 4,900 before the war.
Do we believe these numbers? I sure wouldn’t bet on Russia only having 1,000 guns left. But what I do believe is the increased targeting and killing of those Russian guns. In those 17 days above (3.5% of the 485 days since the war began), Ukraine claimed 371 tube and MLRS artillery kills, or 8.1% of their total claims. That is more than double their previous average.
What’s happening here makes perfect sense.
Ukraine advances to new positions, ejecting Russian forces. They counterattack, allowing Ukraine to destroy valuable men and equipment out in the open. Meanwhile, Russia does what Russia does best and puts up a wall of artillery. But it’s an ambush—Ukraine has clearly devoted extensive counterbattery resources to the front, immediately striking back at those Russian guns.

He's No Motionless Merrick. He's Jumping Jack Smith.
In a good sign, the prosecutors in the Trump classified documents case have turned over important discovery, including grand jury testimony from the witnesses who will testify against Trump in court.
This means Trump now knows (or will very soon).
So keep an eye on Trump’s outbursts. LOL.
On MSNBC, Andrew Weissmann also said it is unusual to turn over this amount of discovery so early in a case.
Looks like Mr. Smith is in a hurry.
Trump, understandably, seems pretty nervous. “THIS CONTINUING SAGA IS RETRIBUTION AGAINST ME FOR WINNING AND, EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY TO THEM, ELECTION INTERFERENCE REGARDING THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. IT WILL BE THERE UPDATED FORM OF RIGGING OUR MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION. LOOK AT THE POLLS – THEY CAN’T BEAT ME (MAGA!) AT THE BALLOT BOX, THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN WIN IS TO CHEAT. STOP THEM NOW!”

Former Texas congressman Will Hurd on Thursday joined the long list of candidates challenging Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Hurd, 45, was a former CIA officer before he won election to the House in 2014. He served three terms in Congress, but decided to not seek reelection in 2020.
Hurd, a vocal critic of former President Trump, announced his White House bid during an appearance on CBS.

The QOP Loves Treason
Republicans hoping to become president of the United States of America are trying, in yet another election, to win over voters who harbor a fondness for the treasonous, pro-slavery Confederate States of America.
As he addressed a crowd of North Carolina Republicans at their state convention earlier this month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis opened with a promise that he would revert the newly renamed Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg — after Braxton Bragg, a Confederate general notorious for repeatedly losing key battles.
“It’s an iconic name and iconic base, and we’re not going to let political correctness run amok in North Carolina,” DeSantis said at the start of his June 9 remarks to a cheering crowd.
The next day, former Vice President Mike Pence made the same promise. “We will end the political correctness in the hallways of the Pentagon, and North Carolina will once again be home to Fort Bragg,” he said, also to cheers.
And former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who won praise across the political spectrum for her push in 2015 to remove the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds after a white supremacist killed nine Black people in a Charleston church, has moved to a position of refusing to condemn it. In 2019, she said in an interview that the flag was about “service, sacrifice and heritage” and that killer Dylann Roof had “hijacked” it.
The open appeal to apologists for those who seceded from the Union in 1861 and took up arms against the United States — the actual definition of treason — continues the history of Republican outreach to white Southerners who oppose the Civil Rights Movement that began in the 1960s. It also continues the defense of honoring literal traitors pushed by former President Donald Trump, who just weeks before his Jan. 6, 2021, coup attempt vetoed an annual defense bill because it required that military bases honoring Confederates be renamed.
“These Monumental and very Powerful Bases have become part of a Great American Heritage,” Trump wrote in a statement posted to Twitter in 2020.
They Are Pretty Fond of Corruption, Too.
Republicans are waving off ethics questions surrounding another Supreme Court justice, Samuel Alito, after it was revealed that he accepted an undisclosed trip from a GOP megadonor who had business before the court.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Wednesday that Congress should “stay out” of the court’s business after ProPublica reported that the conservative justice accepted a luxury fishing vacation from wealthy benefactors.
“I think it’s part of an assault on the conservatives because the left doesn’t like their decisions,” added Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
According to the investigative journalism nonprofit, Alito took a luxury trip to Alaska in 2008 aboard a private jet chartered by hedge fund billionare Paul Singer that was arranged by Leonard Leo, a prominent conservative figure who was then head of the Federalist Society. The trip was not reported on Alito’s financial disclosure forms, and Alito did not recuse himself when Singer’s businesses later had issues before the court.
