More SCOTUS Hijinks
A property co-owned by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch was bought by the head of a major law firm just days after Gorsuch was confirmed to the Supreme Court, Politico reported.
On April 16, 2017, Brian Duffy, the chief executive of Greenberg Traurig, bought a 3,000-square-foot home in Granby, Colorado, co-owned by Gorsuch and two others, Politico reported, citing real estate records.
Gorsuch was confirmed to the Supreme Court on April 7, 2017.
Politico reported that Gorsuch held a 20% stake in the home and, citing the Justice's federal disclosure form, reported that Gorsuch profited somewhere between $250,001 and $500,000 from the $1.825 million sale. On the same forms, Gorsuch declined to note the purchaser of the property, according to Politico.

Be Careful What You Wish For
Democrats see former President Donald Trump's post-indictment political resurgence as alarming for the country ... and great for Joe Biden’s reelection hopes.
Take it from Sen. Debbie Stabenow. The Michigan Democrat had front row seats to the former president’s shocking win in her state in 2016, and then to his loss to Biden four years later.
She thinks a 2024 rematch would look more like the 2020 outcome.
“Trump’s obviously an extremely dangerous person who would be very dangerous for the country. But I'm confident that President Biden could beat him,” the retiring senator said in an interview. “Politically, for us, it’s helpful if former President Trump is front and center."
“Broadly,” Stabenow added, “the public rejects him.”
As Trump reels in endorsements, rakes in campaign dollars and reclaims his lead in Republican primary polls, Democrats are growing more enthusiastic about his chances of clinching his party's nomination. They think Trump would not only maximize Biden’s chances of a second term, but help the party battle for control of Congress.

Previous GUy Loses One of His Closest Advisors
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) on Monday praised the departed Fox News host Tucker Carlson for his undue influence on former President Donald Trump.
“I cannot overstate the importance that Tucker Carlson had on public policy and choices we made in the government,” Gaetz told Newsmax’s Greg Kelly. “Tucker Carlson and I were directly involved in persuading President Trump to ignore some of the bad advice he was getting” from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Vice President Mike Pence “because we had a realistic view of foreign policy.”
The Trump administration’s cozy relationship with Fox News was exposed in text messages showing other network hosts privately begged Trump to call off the violence as his followers stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. On the air, they played down the insurrection.
But Gaetz’s claim about Carlson’s sway over the then-president is next-level.
But He's Still Got Hannity

It's Nice for Swimming. It Sucks for Everything Else.A recent, rapid heating of the world's oceans has alarmed scientists concerned that it will add to global warming. This month, the global sea surface hit a new record high temperature. It has never warmed this much, this quickly. Scientists don't fully understand why this has happened. But they worry that, combined with other weather events, the world's temperature could reach a concerning new level by the end of next year. Experts believe that a strong El Niño weather event - a weather system that heats the ocean - will also set in over the next months. Warmer oceans can kill off marine life, lead to more extreme weather and raise sea levels. They are also less efficient at absorbing planet-warming greenhouse gases. An important new study, published last week with little fanfare, highlights a worrying development. Over the past 15 years, the Earth has accumulated almost as much heat as it did in the previous 45 years, with most of the extra energy going into the oceans. This is having real world consequences - not only did the overall temperature of the oceans hit a new record in April this year, in some regions the difference from the long term was enormous.

You'd Hate to Be in Haiti
A group of 13 suspected gang members has been beaten and burned to death by a mob in Haiti's capital after being seized while police were searching their vehicle.
The suspects were reportedly beaten with gasoline-soaked tyres before being set alight in Port-au-Prince on Monday.
Police say they confiscated weapons from them just before the incident.
They have not explained how members of the public got hold of the suspects.
Haiti has descended into increasing lawlessness since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021.
The United Nations said in a report published on Monday that insecurity in the capital has reached levels similar to countries at war.
Armed gangs continue to compete to expand their territorial control and that clashes with police and rival gangs have "become more violent and more frequent," claiming many civilian lives, it added.
Gang violence led to the death of nearly 70 people, including 18 women and two children, between 14 and 19 April alone, according to the UN.
Many schools and health centres have been forced to close and the violence has also affected access to many goods and services.
"The people of Haiti continue to suffer one of the worst human rights crises in decades and a major humanitarian emergency," the report reads.

I Was Joking Yesterday About TucKGBer Joining the Russian Army. I Didn't Contemplate This
If Tucker Carlson is looking for work, the Kremlin could have the answer.
Just hours after Fox News unexpectedly announced the host's departure, Carlson was offered work by Russian state media networks that have fiercely supported the invasion of Ukraine and echo much of his conspiratorial rhetoric.
The firebrand anchor is known for his critical views on Western support for Kyiv and has used his platform to question the huge amounts of financial and military aid the United States has sent to help repel Moscow's year-old invasion.
RT, the broadcaster formerly known as Russia Today which is banned in dozens of countries including the entire European Union, said on its English-language Twitter account Monday: "Hey @tuckercarlson, you can always question more with @rt_com."
Vladimir Solovyov, the most prominent commentator on Russian state TV and a staunch pro-Kremlin propagandist, said Carlson was welcome to join his nightly panel discussion show — while suggesting he should consider a run for the White House.
"You have our admiration and support in any endeavor you choose for yourself next, be it running for President of the United States (which you should totally do, by the way) or making an independent media project," he wrote in an email, according to a screengrab he shared on his Telegram channel.
"We'll happily offer you a job if you wish to carry on as a presenter and host! You are always welcome in Russia and Moscow, we wish you the best of luck."

It's the Satanic Temple Vs. the Catholic Church in a Cage Match
The Satanic Temple is celebrating 10 years of existence with its SatanCon convention in Boston this weekend, but it's not what you probably think.
The organization is as much a theater of American satire as it is a place for believers.
The temple, not be confused with the Satanic Church, does not formally deify Satan as the personification of evil, but rather it sees him as a literary character, a necessary rebel, while mocking traditional religion and calling out government’s embrace of institutions like the Catholic Church, co-founder Malcolm Jarry said.
“They believe in a literary representation of Satan,” Jarry said of the temple’s estimated 700,000 members around the world. “It’s a heroic figure who fights against tyrannical authority and for humanity, even if it’s a losing battle.”
Still, the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston seems shaken by the prospect of Satanic Temple members in red bodysuits and costume-shop devil's horns amassing near the Copley Place shopping center.
The archdiocese is counterprogramming with a weekend of solemn events.

TucKKKer is No Eric Clapton or Jeff Beck
If you’re wondering did Tucker Carlson jump, was he pushed or were he and Fox News wrestling on the ledge of a skyscraper, and the two of them fell 57 stories to flattened death on a New York concrete sidewalk, you’re thinking about this the wrong way. The truth of the matter is that it doesn’t matter much why the host of cable TV’s most popular show on cable TV’s most popular network has suddenly left the building.
Nor does it matter much who replaces Tucker Carlson in the 8 p.m. block because the “talent” at the Fox News Channel has never been the star. Glenn Beck wasn’t the star in 2009 when he generated the largest viewership Fox had ever seen in the 5 p.m. hour. Bill O’Reilly, Carlson’s predecessor on the Fox schedule and the previous king of cable news, the subject of a zillion magazine profiles and the instigator of a tubful of moral panics, wasn’t the star, either. Both of them were carried out with the tide to positions of broadcast irrelevance when Fox tired of them, a longitude and latitude Carlson now finds himself in. Perhaps you recall Megyn Kelly, another Fox sensation who hasn’t had much of a career since splitting the network.
What Beck, O’Reilly and Kelly didn’t understand at the time, and what somebody should explain to Carlson this evening, is that Fox itself, which convenes the audience, is the star. And the star maker is whomever network owner Rupert Murdoch has assigned to run the joint. The nighttime hosts, as talented as they are — and Beck, O’Reilly, Kelly and Carlson are among some of the most talented broadcasters to slop the makeup on and speak into the camera — are as replaceable as the members of the bubblegum group the Archies, as interchangeable as the actors who’ve played James Bond, as expendable as the gifted musicians who played lead guitar for the Yardbirds.

The Hunted Becomes the Hunter“Attorney Abbe Lowell sent letters asking the Treasury Department's inspector general to investigate how former Donald Trump loyalists obtained reports of Hunter (sic) Biden's alleged "suspicious activity" and seeking a congressional ethics review of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's public attacks against President Joe Biden's family.” www.msn.com/…Apparently the information that is public is not supposed to be and they want to know why it is. Garrett Ziegler is being exposed for the leak and may have violated the Bank Secrecy Act and committed federal crimes. Also, they want Greene investigated for ethics violations for all the CTs, false and defamatory statements she has and continues to make. She is using her position to espouse these sentiments when they have nothing to do with her legislative role. They want the House to “make loud and clear that it does not endorse, condone, or agree with her outrageous, undignified rhetoric and brazen violations of the standards of official conduct that do not reflect creditably on the House of Representatives."

TucKKKer and Don Lemon Find Something They Agree On
Ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson and CNN anchor Don Lemon seemed to have had little in common until now: The fallen cable news stars reportedly just hired the same lawyer to navigate their departures.
Multiple outlets say Los Angeles attorney Bryan Freedman is representing both. Freedman has facilitated favorable breakup terms for hosts before, including Megyn Kelly when she parted ways from NBC News in 2019 and “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison in 2021, Insider reported.

Oops!
Police in California sold methamphetamine to a suspected drug trafficker, who then made off with the haul.
Undercover deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department last week met with a suspect who wanted to buy some 60 pounds of the narcotic.
“After the transaction, the suspect drove away,” the sheriff’s office admitted in a statement posted on its website.
Attempts to stop the suspect’s vehicle were futile.
Deputies gave chase but they lost sight “due to the high speeds and suspect’s disregard for public safety,” per the statement.
It’s unclear how much meth was actually sold to the suspect, or exactly where in the county the botched operation occurred.
Police say that “no further details will be released at this time.”
The suspect remains at large.
