Regarding the segment titled "Uncle Rupert Wants You! To Pay for the Dominion Settlement": is there any way I can renew my cable service with the stipulation that Fox is NOT included? I'm fairly sure the answer right now is "No." So, is there any way I can gain access to the other channels that I like (and that my wife likes) without any of my money going to Fox? It would be great if there was a national movement along the lines of "Don't include Fox channels with my basic cable. I'll pay extra for that if I want it." I know I'm paying a premium to enjoy convenient access to a broad range of programming. But I don't want a penny of my money going to Fox. Does anyone have any suggestions? Some time ago I really got really upset about my ever-increasing Cox Cable bill. I talked to an acquaintance who is a manager at Cox. My complaint was that I couldn't pick and choose what I wanted to watch. So why should I pay for access to a gazillion channels that I had no interest in? His basic response was that content providers offer packages of shows, so if a cable company wants the popular ones, they have to take the others that just come along. Now I don't know if Fox's offerings are based on packaging their news and sports channels, but if they are, it's probably all or none. PS As I was "really upset", they found "discounts" that lowered my bill. So, it paid to make a phone call and complain. I now do that every time they increase my bill. It doesn't always work but it's still worth the time spent.

As Bob said no cable or satellite provider is going to let you drop one particular channel because all programming options are packaged. I hope Fox demands more money than some providers are willing to pay but because fox does combine their sports with their news channels I doubt any companies would be willing to drop them. I just hope all the forthcoming lawsuits bankrupts them.

I suspect Fox has plenty of money, enough to withstand the lawsuits and then some. As noted earlier, Fox will probably raise their rate when they renew their contracts with the service providers.
I wish there were more people like me that would tell their cable company "I'm cancelling and going elsewhere, because I don't want one penny of my money going to Fox." This would be the perfect time to organize a movement to "Take Fox off of my Basic Cable." If such a movement was available, I'm sure lot of people would join it.
In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out a way to get the channels I want, and I suspect it won't be easy...

Thank you, I'll get on that. I scanned the article in your link, and it looks to be very helpful. I'll review it in more detail later this week.
My wife will want to retain the numerous conveniences we currently enjoy with cable, and I'll have to find a way to keep her happy. If she wants to stay with cable I may be in a bind...
And I'm sure complaining to the cable company will be nothing more than symbolic, but even so... still worth it.

The problem is I don't think there any of the TV program providers who do not carry fox so there's nowhere to go if you want general cable channels. I hate it too, but it is what it is...
