Peace For Ukraine? It's This Simple
Zelenskyy first announced his peace formula at a November summit of the Group of 20 (G20) key economies.
The plan calls for:
-Radiation and nuclear safety, focusing on restoring security around Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine, which is now Russian-occupied. -Food security, including protecting and ensuring Ukraine’s grain exports to the world’s poorest nations. -Energy security, with a focus on price restrictions on Russian energy resources, as well as aiding Ukraine with restoring its power infrastructure, half of which has been damaged by Russian attacks. -Release of all prisoners and deportees, including war prisoners and children deported to Russia. -Restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and Russia reaffirming it according to the UN Charter, which Zelenskyy said is “not up to negotiations”.- -Withdrawal of Russian troops and the cessation of hostilities, the restoration of Ukraine’s state borders with Russia. -Justice, including the establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian war crimes. -The prevention of ecocide, and the protection of the environment, with a focus on demining and restoring water treatment facilities. -Prevention of an escalation of conflict and building security architecture in the Euro-Atlantic space, including guarantees for Ukraine. -Confirmation of the war’s end, including a document signed by the involved parties.

Poor George Santos, the Real Victim
Republican George Santos faced hostility on Fox News over the lies he told to get elected to Congress.
The New York Rep.-elect admitted in a series of interviews Monday that he lied about his job experience, college education and heritage. He claimed during his campaign that he had worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs and that he had a degree from Baruch College in New York, but none of those organizations had records of that. He had also called himself a “proud American Jew.” When questioned by the New York Post, he said he was Catholic and never claimed to be Jewish, telling the newspaper: “Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background, I said I was ‘Jew-ish.’”
He characterized the lies as “embellishing my resume” ― and has, so far, faced little to no backlash from Republican party leadership.
But on Fox News Tuesday, he met fierce pushback from former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate-turned Tucker Carlson fill-in.
“A lie is not an embellishment on a resume,” Gabbard told her guest. “These are blatant lies, and it calls into question how your constituents and the American people can believe anything that you may say when you are standing on the floor of the House of Representatives.”
Santos tried to cast the discussion as a debate about his resumé, but Gabbard interrupted: “Is it debatable, or is it just false?”

Good News! I Have Something to Read This Weekend.Former Republican President Donald Trump's redacted tax returns will be made public on Friday, a spokesperson for the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee said on Tuesday. The Democratic-controlled committee obtained the returns last month as part of an investigation into Trump's taxes, after a lengthy court battle that ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the committee's favor. The committee released a report into its findings last week, which said the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) broke its own rules by not auditing Trump for three of the four years of his presidency. They Got Al Capone for Tax EvasionFrom an article by David Cay Johnston at dcreport.org: Donald Trump knowingly committed dozens of brazen tax frauds during the six years when he ran for office and was President, my analysis of the Congressional report on his tax returns and other documents shows. This explains why he fought all the way to the Supreme Court in a failed effort to keep his tax information secret. One technique he used at least 26 times between 2015 and 2020 was as simple as it was flagrant. Trump filed sole proprietor reports, known as Schedule C, that showed huge business expenses despite having zero revenue. That created losses which Trump used to offset his income from work and investments, thus lowering his income taxes. Additional Schedule Cs had expenses exactly equal to revenues while only a few showed profits. Trump knew this was unlawful because he lost two trials over his 1984 income taxes in which he did the exact same thing, a story I broke in June 2016. Both judges, in scathing opinions, ruled that Trump committed civil tax fraud.

Good News and Bad News for Russians
Russian soldiers taking part in the war on Ukraine will be eligible for free sperm freezing and storage in cryobanks, Russia’s state news agency Tass reported, citing a lawyers union.
“The families of those called up for military service as part of the partial mobilization will receive free access to fertility treatment and the storage of biomaterial in a cryobank,” said Igor Trunov, president of the Russian Union of Lawyers, which represents several couples where the husband has been mobilized and the family has asked for assistance, according to Tass. (Who trusts the Russians not to screw up a cryobank?)

Gorsuch Pleads Temporary Sanity
U.S Supreme Court Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch appeared to express concern that the nation's highest court was being used for political purposes in a dissenting opinion on Tuesday.
Gorsuch, a conservative and Trump appointee, authored a dissent to the majority's decision in a case involving Title 42 and was joined by Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, a liberal appointed by President Joe Biden.
Title 42 is a policy enacted by the Trump administration during the COVID-19 pandemic that allows for the speedy expulsion of undocumented migrants which was due to expire last week before Chief Justice John Roberts granted a stay to that expiration sought by a group of Republican-led states.
The Court's majority ruled on Tuesday that Title 42 will remain in effect pending the Court's review of the case, which has been brought by Republican officials in 19 states. Associate Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor said they would have denied the states' application.
Gorsuch described the Court's decision as "unwise" and that the emergency on which Title 42 rested "has long since lapsed."
He acknowledged the states "contend that they face an immigration crisis at
the border and policymakers have failed to agree on adequate measures to address it."
He went on to say that "the current border crisis is not a COVID crisis."
"And courts should not be in the business of perpetuating administrative edicts designed for one emergency only because elected officials have failed to address a different emergency. We are a court of law, not policymakers of last resort," Gorsuch wrote.
