A person sent ten different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh.
No pun in ten did.
Mercedes Bends to the Pressure
Mercedes has become the latest Western company to pull out of Russia, following the invasion of Ukraine in February.
The German-based firm stopped manufacturing in and exporting to the country in early March.
But now it says it will withdraw from the Russian market and sell shares in its subsidiaries to a local investor.
Meanwhile, Ford confirmed on Wednesday that it had finalised a deal to exit the Russian market as well.

Porn: The Pope Wants Nun of That
Pope Francis has warned priests and nuns about the dangers of watching pornography online, saying it "weakens the priestly heart".
The Pope, 86, was responding to a question about how digital and social media should be best used at session in the Vatican,
Pornography, he said, was "a vice that so many people have... even priests and nuns".
"The devil enters from there," the Pope told priests and seminarians.
As to how to navigate social media and the digital world, he said that they should be used but told them not to waste too much time on it.
"The pure heart, the one that Jesus receives ever day, cannot receive this pornographic information," he said.
He advised the group to "delete this from your phone, so you will not have temptation in hand".
The Catholic church requires that all clerics remain celibate - which is to abstain from sexual relations and marriage.
Watching porn would breach these requirements.

Ukraine Update
As Russia’s war in Ukraine dragged into a ninth month, its army’s weaknesses became clearer with an apparent reliance on Iranian support growing stronger.
Ukrainian civilians are brushing off attacks, widely understood to be carried out with Iranian-made Shahed-136 “suicide” drones despite Tehran’s insistence otherwise, and Ukrainian forces are taking more territory in the south and east.
Also this past week, Russian forces pummelled Bakhmut in the east, without breaking Ukraine’s defences.
In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian forces reportedly captured a highway linking Kreminna to Svatove, two towns unlocking the way to Starobilsk, a major logistics centre.
The efforts of Russian troops to retake the offensive in Kharkiv, where they recently lost more than 8,000 square kilometres (3,088 square miles) of ground, were ineffective. Ukrainian forces say they have now retaken 544 settlements in the region, with just 32 remaining under occupation.
It is Kherson, in the south, where Russian forces have reportedly amassed 45 battalion tactical groups, that the next major – and possibly pivotal – action is expected to be fought.
Russian forces mined crossings and bridges across the Dnieper River in expectation of a Ukrainian counterattack, according to Kyiv.
“Engineering and sapper units of the Russian occupying forces mine the [east bank of the Dnieper River], leaving small passages for a potential retreat of their troops from the right bank,” said the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The staff said Russia had sent 2,000 newly mobilised personnel to supervise the evacuation of doctors, teachers and bankers from western Kherson.
Russia’s Tass news agency reported that Moscow’s forces were preparing Kherson city for street battles, as “authorities” evacuated doctors, teachers and bankers from the wider area. ................ Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russian forces in the southern Kherson region is proving more difficult than it was in the northeast because of wet weather and the terrain, Ukraine’s defence minister has said.
Kyiv’s forces are piling pressure on Russian troops in the strategically important Kherson region, which has been partially occupied by Moscow since the start of its invasion, threatening Russian President Vladimir Putin with another big battlefield setback.
“First of all, the south of Ukraine is an agricultural region, and we have a lot of irrigation and water supply channels, and the Russians use them like trenches,” Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov told a news conference on Wednesday. “It’s more convenient for them.”
“The second reason is weather conditions. This is the rainy season, and it’s very difficult to use fighting carrier vehicles with wheels,” he said, adding that this reduced the options for Ukraine’s armed forces.
“The counteroffensive campaign in the Kherson direction is more difficult than in the Kharkiv direction,” he added.
Many of those who are the targets of this Russian outreach are the same Afghan soldiers who fought with the U.S. to remove the Taliban government and install the short-lived Republic that seemingly beat U.S. forces to the planes in an effort to get out of Kabul.
Somewhere north of 20,000 members of the Afghan National Army Commando Corps were left behind when the U.S. departed. These are the elite of the Afghan military, with U.S. training, familiarity with combined arms tactics, knowledge of U.S. systems, and long experience in fighting in harsh conditions.
Now, they are jobless and hopeless, many commandos still waiting for resettlement in the United States or Britain, making them easy targets for recruiters who understand the “band of brothers” mentality of highly skilled fighting men. This potentially makes them easy pickings for Russian recruiters, said Afghan security sources. A former senior Afghan security official, who requested anonymity, said their integration into the Russian military “would be a game-changer” on the Ukrainian battlefield, as Russian President Vladimir Putin struggles to recruit for his faltering war and is reportedly using the notorious mercenary Wagner Group to sign up prisoners.

Svatove UpdateThere are reports this morning that Ukraine is moving closer to Svatove. On Tuesday, fighting was happening between Kovalivka and Nezhuryne. Now that fighting appears to be east of Nezhuryne, approaching the P66 highway. That puts the combat within about 4km of Svatove. It also means that Ukrainian forces have reached a position where they can fire down into the city. More reports of a battle going on at the P66 highway north of Kreminna near the village of Chervonopopivka. Fighting north of Kreminna as Ukraine moves to control the P66 highway at several locations.

Who Doesn't Hate Junk Fees?
The Biden administration announced new measures intended to crack down on so-called junk fees charged by banks and other companies as part of a wider effort to try to lower costs for Americans with the highest inflation in decades.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued new guidance on Wednesday making it illegal for banks to charge overdraft fees when at the time of purchase the bank website or ATM balance showed the customer had enough money in their account. The agency will also make it unlawful for banks to charge a fee to a customer who deposits a check that then bounces.
“Each year these junk fees that companies charge cost Americans tens of billions of dollars, weighing down family budgets and making it harder for people to pay the bills so my administration has taken action to eliminate these,” Biden said in remarks from the White House Wednesday.
In his remarks, the president also highlighted new rule requirements put into place last month on airlines and online travel websites to disclose fees for picking a seat, checking a bag and other add-ons fees.
Biden said his broader plan would tackle hidden hotel booking fees, termination charges put in place by cable and internet companies and other “surprise charges, the companies sneaking the bills because they can.”

MTG Thinks Old People Don't Matter
Marjorie Taylor Greene is trending once again, and as always, it’s not for a good reason. This time, MTG is facing backlash after calling a voter “too old” to speak or have a view on abortion rights.
During a call-in show, Night Talk, on North Georgia's UCTV on Monday night Monday, a woman caller confronted Greene. She said, “My body is my body, and I don’t want the government telling me what I can do with my body.”
In response, Greene asked, “Ma’am, are you having children any time soon?” Without pausing for an answer, she continued: “That’s my question, I’m asking a legitimate question.”
Greene continued speaking, claiming “abortion is murder” before diverting back to her initial question about the caller’s age.
Based only on the caller’s voice, Greene assumed she was “old” and would not be having children anytime soon, but also implied that, because of assumptions about her age and ability to have children, this voter’s opinion did not matter.
“I don’t think you’re having children anytime soon,” Greene said. “So I appreciate your interest in women’s rights, but killing an unborn baby is not a woman’s right, and that’s not health care.”

Another Abortion By Herschel Lie-Walker
A second woman has come forward to say Herschel Walker urged her to abort their child, claiming that the football star turned GOP Senate candidate personally drove her to a clinic in the 1990s to have an abortion against her wishes.
The woman, identifying herself as “Jane Doe,” said that after she first went to an abortion clinic in Dallas, Texas, she left in tears because she was unable to move forward with the procedure.
But, according to the woman, Walker was unmoved. He drove the woman back to the clinic and pressured her to get the abortion. She had the procedure while he sat in the parking lot. He then drove her to a pharmacy to get the medication prescribed afterwards.
Walker, speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, called her story “foolishness.”
“Well, I’ll just say right now you know guys I’m done with this foolishness. I’ve already told people this is a lie and I'm not going to entertain and continue to carry a lie alone,” Walker said.
“And I also want to let you know I didn’t kill JFK either,” he added.
The woman came forward Wednesday during a shocking virtual press conference hosted by her attorney, Gloria Allred, during which she read a statement detailing their yearslong romantic relationship and saying that she was protecting her identity not because she was “a coward,” but “to protect the ones I love.”
“Herschel Walker is a hypocrite, and he is unfit to be a U.S. Senator,” the unnamed woman said.
“Herschel Walker says he is against women having abortions but he pressured me to have one,” she said. The woman explained she was motivated to come forward after watching Walker deny previous allegations by another woman who claimed that he had paid for her abortion in 2009.

Everette Stern Takes the High Road. "Who is Everette Stern?", You Ask.
If you are like me you didn’t realize there was even a third party candidate running for Senate in PA. Well apparently there is. Everette Stern. Stern is a Republican who had intended to run in 2016 in the primary against Pat Toomey, before withdrawing. He also tried in the Republican primary this cycle before deciding to run as an independent.
Now, I don’t mean for my ignorance to belittle Stern, he just isn’t getting a lot of media coverage and I wasn’t following any of the candidates, except for Oz and Fetterman, so I hadn’t really heard of him. But, while he isn’t getting much media attention, what Stern is getting, is about 3% of the vote.
He was polling at 3% and dropped out because, he felt he was siphoning votes away from Fetterman which he felt puts our Democracy risk. Here is his statement:
This guy is a staunch conservative. Pro-gun, Anti-regulation etc. Apparently, he has some value for Democracy though. Here is to hoping his followers, follow his endorsement!

How to Lose $600 Million in a Day
Days after Kanye West declared he “can say antisemitic things and Adidas can’t drop me,” the German clothing company did. And with that, West, whose partnership with Adidas accounted for $1.5 billion of his net worth, lost his spot on the Forbes list of billionaires.
The American media company announced West’s removal from the list Tuesday, following his string of antisemitic tweets, texts and statements in interviews with figures like Tucker Carlson, Chris Cuomo and Piers Morgan.
Twitter and Instagram kicked him off, and former collaborators like Balenciaga and CAA cut ties. This corporate exodus also included JP Morgan, Gap and Vogue.
But the biggest blow was Adidas, which had worked with West on his Yeezy sneakers since 2013. Without Adidas, Forbes reported, “Ye is no longer a billionaire” and his net worth plunges to $400 million.
The company, founded by actual Nazis, dumped West Tuesday after his hateful rhetoric inspired a neo-Nazi rally in California.
No More Ye? Yeah!
Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown terminated their associations Tuesday with Donda Sports, the brand management agency owned by the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
Donald and Brown signed deals with Donda Sports earlier this year to represent some of their interests outside of their sports. Both star athletes emphatically dropped the agency owned by Ye, as the music mogul is now known, amid rising international condemnation of his latest round of offensive and antisemitic remarks.

Today's New Word: "Tripledemic"As summer ended and the United States headed into the fall and winter, doctors were worried Americans would see a "twindemic" -- a situation in which both flu and COVID-19 spread at the same time. But experts told ABC News the country may now be facing the threat of a "tripledemic" as doctors see an early rise in other pediatric respiratory viruses, particularly respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, respiratory illnesses are appearing earlier, and in more people, than in recent years. The federal health agency says there has also been early increases in flu activity across most of the U.S. with indications that this season could be much more severe than the previous two seasons. As of Monday afternoon, pediatric bed occupancy in the U.S. is the highest it's been in two years with 75% of the estimated 40,000 beds filled with patients, according to an ABC News analysis.

Where's the Beef?
Three Florida men have been arrested for allegedly stealing $9 million worth of frozen meat across the midwestern United States, authorities said Tuesday.
Yoslany Leyva Del Sol, Ledier Machin Andino and Delvis L. Fuentes, all from the Miami area, face charges of money laundering and transportation of stolen goods, according to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
The trio are the alleged masterminds behind what HSI described as a Florida-based "highly sophisticated organized criminal enterprise" targeting beef and pork packaging plants in the Midwest.
The investigation into the multimillion-dollar theft ring began in June after several semi-trailers and loads of frozen beef -- valued at an estimated $1 million -- were stolen in Nebraska's Lancaster County. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office worked with HSI's Omaha field office to identify approximately 45 thefts that occurred since June 2021 across Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, totaling $9 million in losses, according to HSI.

Desperately Seeking Tweeters
Twitter's "heavy tweeters" — who make up less than 10% of users but post 90% of the platform's tweets — are disappearing from the site, says an internal company research report, according to Reuters.
The internal report, titled: "Where did the Tweeters Go?," said heavy tweeters have been in "absolute decline" since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reuters' Sheila Dang wrote in an exclusive report on Tuesday.
It defines heavy tweeters as users who log in to Twitter six or seven days per week and tweet around three to four times per week, Reuters reported.
This dwindling population of active users generates half of Twitter's global revenue, the report added, per Reuters.

Mercedes Bends to the Pressure
Speaking of Mercedes they just developed a luxury electric vehicle that will go 746 miles on one charge. Only catch is that it cost hundreds of millions of dollars. They won't quote a price. But at least long range electric vehicles are possible and maybe closer to development.

Porn: The Pope Wants Nun of That "weakens the priestly heart". Guess that's why so few people can be priests. And now he bans one's own hand as well as sex with others. Wonder how he will control wet dreams? Maybe he should just neuter all of them.
