mh posted this link on the blue board: www.dailynews.com/2021/10/07/sierra-canyon-basketball-playing-national-fall-events-as-cbc-in-miami-las-vegas-atlanta/
Okay, let's get this straight: Isaiah Elohim, 6-5 2024 (formerly of Northridge Heritage Christian), Kijani Wright, 6-9 2022 (formerly of Los Angeles Windward), Jeremiah Nyarko, 6-9 2022 (formerly of Bellflower St. John Bosco), AND 6-3 2023 Mike Price (formerly of Ribet Academy and before that Encino Crespi) have all transferred to Sierra Canyon.
Tim Rudovskiy, 6-8 2023, transferred from Russia last year and is now eligible. That, at least, seems like a very sensible thing for someone to do, transferring from Russia.
Sierra Canyon returns Amari Bailey, 6-4 2022, Ramel Lloyd, Jr., 6-6 2022 (he transferred from Taft the year before) and Shy Odom, 6-7 2022.
I make out 6 guys who have to start: Bailey, Elohim, Lloyd, Odom, Nyarko and Wright.
Reportedly, Sierra Canyon is seeking a waiver to start 6 players each game. They are being generous and asking that their opponents be allowed to start 6 players as well...
?
As the article points out, Bailey's hurt and out until mid-November. So, that puts off judgment day until then.
Price scored about 14 PPG for Ribet Academy. One can argue they have 7 guys who have to start, unless the Ruskie makes it 8. But they can always send him back to Siberia if he whines about PT.
Bronny James, 6-5 2023, is still there, but it looks like he will never start in high school. He has never shown any sign that he could start at Taft or Ribet Academy or anywhere else, yet every scouting service continues to rank him as one of the top 30 players in the 2023 class and they all predict he will go to Duke.
I might go to Duke one day. I might have a better chance of making the team...
I see that Dylan Metoyer and Alpha Chibambe are no longer there. Maybe Chibambe went back to Taft.
I downloaded the Peacock app onto my TV so I can watch the Sunday game.
On Saturday, at 5 PM, on NBC Sports (314 on my Spectrum), possibly a starting lineup of Price, Elohim, Lloyd, Odom, Nyarko and Wright will face a team led by Mikey Williams, 6-1 2023. You will be able to tell who he is immediately without needing to know the roster. He will be the one who will shoot at least 10 times in the first 5 minutes and possibly make 2 or 3 of his shots. Most will be wild, crazy shots. That's how you can always recognize Williams. He always plays that way.
That's why he's rated as high as #11 in the 2023 class by one of the major scouting services: You can always rest easy knowing he'll score 35 points. When you take 35 shots a game, you're going to score a lot of points.
Maybe he'll display a newfound maturity.
Sierra Canyon should win this by 40 even without Bailey.
